Traktor S3 not working with latest update?

  • Device model * MacBook Pro M2 MAX *
  • Version of operating system * Mac OS 14/15 (checked on 2 laptops) *
  • Version of djay * 5.2.3 *
  • Hardware/controllers used * Traktor S3 *

** Went to a friend’s place to check out a Traktor S3. Considering it as a backup controller. It was recognized by the software in the settings, it routed audio out of the main outputs of the controller. But no controller buttons or faders worked **

Hi @djwolffie, make sure the S3 is running the latest firmware from NI. Then try switching it to MIDI Mode. Also, when connecting to a MacBook, you should be using the USB-B (the squarish one) socket, not the USB-A (iOS) socket.

Hi, I am also facing the same problem. It was recognized by the software in the settings but in the midi section it says no midi device found. I am on the latest firmware & tried all the troubleshoot mentioned here. Let me know if you find the fix.

Hi @Hereaftermusik, are you sure that you have the S3 in MIDI Mode?

I am not sure what midi mode is. I am on macbook pro m2 & as mentioned its plug & play right? So if there is anyway to get into midi mode can you please tell, as far as i know its for ios like pressing flx button or something. If there is anyway for please tell i would love to try.

@Hereaftermusik please refer to the link above with instructions on how to put the S3 in MIDI Mode.

Thank you so much it works but you have to disconnect it from power before connecting it to mac after that you can connect the power adapter. Is their anyway to turn off crossfader & is it possible to get booth & microphone output from controller?

You’re welcome @Hereaftermusik.

  1. Crossfader: you can either delete to MIDI command for the crossfader within the MIDI Learn Tool for your MIDI Mapping or you can switch to 4 Deck Display Mode in djay and set the Crossfader to Thru for all 4 Decks.
  2. Booth/Microphone Output: navigate to the djay Settings>Audio Devices> and set your Booth and Microphone channels to the appropriate channels on the S3 (probably something like ch 5-6 and ch 7-8). You may have to play around with the options to figure out the correct channel assignments.
