Bought djay for iPad and now want to use it on a new mac i bought but having trouble downloading it onto macbook

djay for iPad and djay for Mac are sold separately.
So the Mac App Store and iPad App Store are two different stores. I don’t understand why I have to purchase it again since I already bought it once. Please explain. I feel a customer should only have to purchase it and it be available on all platforms. Would you be able to give me a license key? Or maybe offer it at a discounted price for customers who already purchased it once.
