Besides iCloud Sync, is there any other way of transferring My Playlists from one IOS device to another?
iCloud Sync method isn’t working for me (I suspect maybe because my iCloud storage is full)
Hi @maurizio_T, please note that iCloud syncing only syncs metadata like Hot Cues and Saved Loops. Not playlists created in My Collection.
- To copy My Collection playlists from one device to another you need to copy the djay Media Library database from your “master” device to the other.
- This file can be found using the Files App under On My iPhone/iPad>djay>User Data.
- I recommend that you first backup this file by copying it to a folder in your iCloud.
- Then copy it from this iCloud folder to your other iOS device.

Thanks Slak. I’m using Windows, Where would that file be?

You’re welcome @maurizio_T. Your topic says between iOS devices.
On Windows I think it’s in Music>djay>User Data or something close to that. However, please note that the file type for the djay Media Library database on Windows is differed than on iOS and macOS. So, the above process doesn’t really work between Windows and Apple devices. I’ve had mixed results with changing the file extension so proceed at your own risk…

Thanks again, I tried what I think you described but couldn’t get it to work.
I found on the master iPad in Files/Djay/User data,
I then airdrop it to my other ipad
I find the file that was airdropped on that ipad but when I open that file, Djay opens up and the Error Could Not Load track (OSSStautus error 2003334207) pops up and the playlists haven’t been copied over
I also tried adding the file on windows with itunes sync but that didn’t work either,
I might just create the playlists manually on the other iPad,
I know if I restore that iPad from the master iPad it will work though…
When you copy the file over, make sure you overwrite the file that is already in the folder. Alternatively, after backing up the file to another location, you can delete the file in the destination folder then copy the master file over.
If iCloud Sync isn’t working, you can transfer playlists by copying the djay Media Library database file from your main iOS device to the other. iCloud only syncs metadata, not playlists from “My Collection.”
Maybe some one can help. Rather than rely on iCloud which seems to be hit and miss with cue points etc and Apple hit and miss with playlists. I’m trying to copy media library from iPad to MacBook and when o open MacBook all files are greyed out. Play lists are as my iPad but tracks won’t load as greyed out. Any tips or ideas?
Drag your music source folder Into My Collection>Music
I would imagine you would need all the same files on all devices you are trying to copy library onto?
Maybe it’s best going through Apple Music and plug lead into Mac and iOS device and sync playlists to device first then copy and music library.
Can you explain more when you said [quote=“Kevnice, post:11, topic:29580, full:true”]
Drag your music source folder Into My Collection>Music

Just so I’m clear on the steps. All I want is the exact same files and playlists to be copied across to other devices both ways. So If I do any playlist editing I can transfer across to Mac and iPad. Hope that makes sense.
Make’s perfect sense and the answer to both your question is Yes. Just to be cleared, I have the same music files and djay library folder on both my IPAD/Macbook, so both of my devices are mirrored. However I find it much easier to do all the library work on the IOS device then transfer it to the Mac. because with the Mac all you have to do is drag your music folder into Djay pro and wait for it to scan. Trust me it’s a PIA to do it the opposite way. Mac>IOS, especially like in my case I have over 50,000 files store locally. IOS version is not so great, it’s extremely slow when importing file from local path.
BTW what I found out, each time I copy the Djay library on my MacBook and transfer it over to IOS, I have to re-import all my music from local path over again.. real PIA
Thanks mate. Just to help me understand what do you mean by drag your music folder into djay? Do you mean the media library created on iOS?
No, the folder where you store your music files.
Thanks for clearing it up
