YOUR QUESTION: Hi All, I love this software and want a turntable / mixer setup that works well with DJ Pro. I sold my mixion pro all in one unit, found it a little clunky and more bedroom dj friendly than professional. Anyway I want to go back to vinyl and am looking for the current best setup to work with DJ Pro. Having sifted through a lot of info, I think the reloop RP 8000 mk2 turntables with the Pioneer DJs S11 pro mixer (want to have a scratch friendly setup) looks like it would adequately do the job. Does anyone have this setup or can recommend something else? Many thanks
Hi @Kevski72, I’m not a vinyl or DVS DJ so, I’ll leave this one up to our knowledgeable Community Users to answer. In the meantime, here’s our list of supported DVS-Compatible Mixers on macOS:
I’ve been considering a few setups and after I realised this weekend that one of my old trusty Technics 1210s has an issue. I was looking at a full Reloop setup with their decks (either the mk2 7000s or 8000s) and a Reloop Elite.
Hi. Ive got a setup with 2x Rp-8000 MK2 and I received last week a DJM-450. It’s working great, on osX and Windows in DVS. I went with the djm-450, cos it was just listed compatible with djay last month.
My setup is used in a particular case. I host private parties at my house, with a lot of experienced club djs that come to play for pleasure with vynil. (they play CDJ in clubs).
So i needed a familiar mixer (pioneer) for them and I wanted to expand it to DVS with recordbox they are familiar with. I think the midi controls on the turntables in DVS are enough for a vynil like experience with electronic, with playlist selection and cues..
I will try little by little to push them to use the DVS setup with Djay, given that it now reads pioneer USBs.
Many , die hard technics, experienced Djs have played on my Reloops rp-8000 MK2 and they love it. No complains at all.
For me, I will play dvs with Djay, but I think that if you want better control, scratch and loops, you should go with the S7 or S11.
I think the midi controls on the rp-8000 mk2 are worth the extra money respect to the rp-7000 mK2. You can use them for cues for example while on your mixer you use the pads for another function.
Be aware that the midi protocol on the 8000 MK2 does not allow to change the page (cue, fx1,beat jump, etc) on Recordbox, the leds does not get the infos. I’m writing a midi translator/bridge for recorbox if anyone interested.
I’m laughing a little because the 8000Mk2 and S11 is an absolute MONSTER setup! I assume a hint of sarcasm when you said ‘adequately’!
I DJ Hip-Hop and scratch (or trying at least) both vinyl and DVS - and managed to get an amazing second hand deal on some Pioneer PLX-1000 and a Reloop Elite mixer. I had every intention of selling the 1000’s and purchasing brand new 8000’smk2 as they’re designed to go with the Elite, however… The 1000’s are amazing. I’m now torn about whether or not i want to actually get rid of them.
Me and some friends DJ/scratch together and use each others gear - 1200 Mk2’s and one of the sets being the Reloop 7000 Mk2’s, which are also amazing. (identical to the 8000 unless you want the pads). Definitely worth considering the 1000’s though if you wanted to match them nicely to the S11. My mates are all really impressed with the 1000’s for their build quality/solidness/torque (for scratching)
Only thing is the weight. 1000’s are nearly 15kgish each vs 12kgish of reloops, but they are so solid and well built. They also look really good/high end.
I think my intention will be at some point to get some Reloops to DJ out with for weight saving, and keep the 1000’s at home.
The S11 It is an unreal mixer. I love my Reloop Elite, but would happily upgrade to an S11 for a few reasons:
The screen would be useful for me
I’d prefer the paddles to the Elite buttons for FX (prefer for scratching)
I read online that the Elite pre-amps for vinyl aren’t great and more designed for DVS… (but i don’t play anywhere that makes that noticeable yet).
(I understand you haven’t mentioned the Elite, but it’s still an amazing mixer if you happened to come across a deal is all, and wanted to mention for and upvote against Vinyl/Scratching for the S11)
Thanks @Slak_Jaw . Your commitment and dedication to this platform is extraordinary. Please know that we (us DJs) are very grateful and appreciative of your support. Thanks again
Thanks @TomCat much appreciated. Yes this will be a monster setup but I don’t want to get gear and then wish I had gone down a different route. Would rather wait and save until I get the setup I want. At the moment it looks like the reloop and pioneer, although I have considered the 1000’s. Of course I fully regret selling my pair of sl1210s many years ago but at the time needed to do it. Now they are far too expensive second hand, and I don’t like the new Technics mk7’s, imho nowhere near as good as the old 1200/1210’s. Anyway thanks for your comments and swift reply, best wishes.
