Unwanted jump when a transition starts

MacBook Air M2 2022, 24GB RAM
15.4.1 Sequoia
Reloop Mixon 8 Pro
djay Pro 5.3.1

Summary of the issue:
Since the update to djay Pro 5.3.1 I have this jump at the start of the next track with every transition (manual as well as automix). I have already tried switching quantize on and off, but unfortunately no improvement. This behavior also occurs without the connected controller, i.e. only on the Mac. Before the update, everything worked perfectly.

How to recreate the issue:
Do a manual or Automix transition.

Hi @coldfusion, welcome to the Community! Please check you Sync Mode settings. I suspect your Beat sync interval is set to 4 Beats.

Hi,

many thanks for your quick reply. I changed to 1 beat but I still have this issue, along with a noise every time the transition starts. I already did a de- and reinstall of djay pro…

You’re welcome @coldfusion. Can you please try to capture a short video of the issue and upload it here? Please note the maximum file size is 200MB, so if your video is larger than that, you’ll need to upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the file here. Thanks!

As a new user it seems I cannot upload attachments…
I put it on Google Drive 2025-04-21_12-16-03.mp4 - Google Drive

Hi @coldfusion, I’ve changed your permissions from new user to basic user so you can upload directly. Can you please share a full screen video? I need to see the entire djay screen. Thanks.

Here you go

Thanks @coldfusion.

  1. Please share screenshots of your Automix Settings and your Crossfader FX settings. I would like to know what transition type(s) you are using.

  2. Also, can you please confirm if you are using Sync or not? The “jump” you are observing looks like expected behavior when using Sync and your start timing is slightly off. The software will compensate and align the songs according to your sync settings.

pfa the screenshot. Yes, I do sync…

Thanks for the screenshots.

  1. If you want the song to start exactly when you move the crossfader then you should disable Sync on the decks and in the Automix Settings.
  2. Alternatively, if you want to use Sync, then I recommend that you move the crossfader about 1/2 beat early so the alignment/jump happens closer to where you expect it.
  3. As for that “glitch” sound, our team is aware of this and is investigating it further.

Ok, understood. Actually I do not want to use the crossfader at all. I want the Automix do it for me automatically, and yes, with tempo sync

Okay, then I recommend the following as well:

  1. In the djay Settings>General?CROSSFADER FX, disable Auto-Play When Moving Crossfader
  2. Disable Crossfader FX in the crossfader pop-up menu.

Alright, I’m gonna give it a try. Still wondering why everything worked fine before 5.3…

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Unfortunately none of your suggestions turned out being a solution… :frowning:

Sorry to hear that @coldfusion. I can’t think of anything else to suggest so I’ll need to pass this onto our engineering team. Could you please record another video showing the issue plus your settings from above? Thanks!

I will do so. In the meantime can you please send me a direct download (not app store) link to the 5.2.9 version so that i can rollback? Thanks in advance

This is not possible. djay is only available from the official App stores. If you want to roll back you will need to use Time Machine on your Mac.

Hi again @coldfusion, I’m still waiting for the requested video above. Thanks!
