The main thing it made me realise that it wasn’t a good idea to rely on a streaming service for your music…
I came from a vinyl background and slowly crossed over to digital relying heavily on Spotify, when the announcement came out that they were no longer supporting dj software I realised it was time to purchase all my music.
I did try Tidal and whilst it was a good enough replacement for Spotify, they too have gotten greedy with their pricing so I have switched over to Apple Music but only for the odd request
Hi Mauricio, that’s true, I’m also from the vinyl era and I’m coming back after 25 years without playing. Since I don’t have my songs back yet, I’d like to use Spotify, because that’s where I found the songs I played back then, it would be for temporary use, even to see if I would really go back or not, just so I don’t have to make a big investment in buying songs and then not using them.
Best Regards,
Well seen as though Spotify isn’t in any djay software, a good option for you would be to build playlist in Spotify then use https://www.tunemymusic.com
To transfer playlists from Spotify to Tidal. Tidal is almost as good as Spotify. You will need a Tidal subscription. Hope that helps.
Try either Tidal or Apple Music, They are the next best thing to Spotify…
Tidal subscription is a bit dearer than Apple but does offer you the ability to use Stems with their tracks.
Slowly build your library up, even if it means buying old cd singles and ripping them into your computer, You just can’t rely on Streaming services,
A few weeks back there was an issue with Tidal and Apple and recently there was an issue with Soundcloud go as well, the issues have since been resolved I believe (The Apple Music one has been) but imagine turning up to a gig ready to play and there either is an issue with the wifi or the Streaming service, Too risky for my liking…
The goal is to get to a place where if the internet broke you can still go out and play gigs.
Building up slowly is great advice.
I generally purchase about 5 tunes a month after trialing them through Tidal.
Tidal is pricey though I must say I didn’t realize how handy neural mix is for open format djing and I find it much better than apple.
You don’t have to buy everthing, some tunes you just know you’ve got to have, some you don’t.
