I know this is currently a limitation of Neural Mix feature but this is a major request.
Currently if you are using your EQ in traditional Hi, Mids, Low and have it set whilst a track is playing, if you toggle to Neural mix, the EQ setting resets to the 12 o’clock setting making it sound awful.
The EQ Neural Mix is one of my favourite features but would still love to keep the EQ function simultaneously as well
Oh no I definitely didn’t miss this feature,
This was a huge improvement…
Just waiting for the 4% tempo option as well as the Neural Vocal Echo to be post fader and the app would be complete,
Oh and scrolling titles as well
Thanks for following up
Using traditional H/M/L simultaneously with Neural mix is not possible? Always need to use the toggle function?
Little backgound info: I have a Mixtour Pro and a Midifighter connected to Djay on iOS 18. On the Mixtour Pro I like to control the stems with neuralmix. I midi-mapped the H/M/L EQ to the Midifighter.
Athough the mapping works, I still need to toggle between the 2 EQ modes. Having both modes at your fingertips would be great!
Cheers!
Hi @Bugel, can you please capture a short video of your desired workflow so I can better understand what your goal is? Then upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here. Thanks!
Hi again @Bugel, I assume you are using a Midi Fighter Twister and not a Spectra. Personally, I would recommend that you use the Mixtour Pro to control your regular EQs (H/M/L) and instead MIDI map the Midi Fighter Twister to control the Neural Mix EQs. Since the Twister has 4 encoders you can control 4 STEMS instead of 3 (Drums/Bass/Harmonic/Vocals). This way you will also still have the option to do both EQ options on the Mixtour Pro using the small Neural Mix Toggle buttons.
I would map the Twister encoders to either Neural Mix Volume or Neural Mix EQ. Personally I prefer to use Neural Mix Volumes as this works from 0-100%. With the NM EQ option you can actually boost each STEM past 100% like you can with EQs. I recommend that you test out both options to see which you prefer.
The source of my confusion, was my lack of understanding the difference between NM EQ and NM volume control. I mapped the NM EQ and did not see the sliders move in the UI. I now understand they control the NM volume.
Just for clarity: the only difference between NM EQ and NM volume, is that you can bootst stems higher that the original volume with NM EQ. Something that cannot be done using NM volume.
You’re welcome @Bugel. Glad that helped. Yeah, that is correct. Basically with NM EQs, full volume is at the 12 o’clock position on a dial/knob. So you can go past this to boost the signal further. With NM Volumes, full volume is at the maximum knob position (typically around the 5 o’clock position).
The other difference is which part of the UI you are controlling (see below).
I find the Neural Mix EQ boost feature quite handy when I make quick edits of older tracks that weren’t mastered all that well to begin with,
Boosting the vocals helps quite a bit
Mr @Slak_Jaw
Thank you for explaining the difference between the stem on EQ and stem on volume, I’ve done a lot of messing around to try to figure out if there’s any differences, especially a low volume.
Now I know it’s the providing the same functionality, and my question to you is other than right here, Is that in writing anywhere?
This is the first I’ve seen it, and if it is in writing or in a guide somewhere, I would like to read up on other things I might be missing. (I didn’t see it in the manual)
Also I am on version 5.26 now (on macOS and use multiple controllers), and at some point after the 5.1 update, the mapping to control NEURAL MIX EQ is behaving differently…
I’ve got four different knobs mapped(vocal harmonic base & drums) and they all work fine except for the harmonic controls. When I’m using the harmonic, it controls the bass as well, and it does this on anything that I map, pioneer controllerS, akai keyboardS, and akai MPD218.
I thoroughly enjoyed the workflow with having four knobs, even if it doesn’t match on the UI that’s fine, but if that’s not something that’s going to come back I would like to know so I can change my workflow.
I don’t like the volume knobs, since I’m using my EQ I don’t like having my EQ all turned to the right, it just throws my brain off because I used different programs as well
The main difference between Neural Mix Volumes and Neural Mix EQs, is the the NM EQs allow you to boost each STEM component beyond its normal output level.
a. When the NM EQ is at 12 o’clock, or middle position, this is the same as the NM Volume at 5 o’clock, or maximum position.
b. If you turn a NM EQ past the middle position, you will be boosting the output signal.
