Using negative beatjump desynchronizes the song

  • Device model: Macbook Air M3 2024
  • Version of operating system: 15.1
  • Version of djay: 5.2.5
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): None

Your question:

When I use negative beatjumps that go beyond the beginning of the song, even though both songs have the same bpm, the beat grid gets out of sync. This only happens when beatjumping on a song that is already playing.

In the image, deck B is playing in loop. Deck A is playing and jumping backwards with beatjump. Both decks with same BPM. Both decks with the same song.

Thanks for the detailed information and screenshots @Manuel_Alejandro. I have forwarded this to the engineering team to see if they can reproduce the issue and offer any suggestions. I’ll report back here when I have news. Thanks!

Hi @Manuel_Alejandro, can you please confirm if SYNC is enabled when you experience this issue? Can you please try to capture a video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? If you could also upload the songs you are experiencing this issue with that would be very helpful. Thanks!

key U = Skip 16 beats Backward
key J = Skip 4 beats Backward

Perfect. Thanks @Manuel_Alejandro

Hello! Any fix about this?? I have the same problem, I cannot use the beat jump because it desynchronizes the beats.

Hi @Pedro1, thanks for the follow up! Our team is still working on this one. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more news. Thanks!

??? Any news??? You release several new version and none of them solves this issue.

I think the problem is when you skip outside the song’s duration, whether at the beginning or the end.

Hi @Pedro1, thanks for the follow up on this one and sorry that it has not yet been resolved. Unfortunately, the engineering team is still working on this one as it is not a trivial issue to solve. I will share more news when I have it. Thanks for you patience and understanding.

Is there any news on this issue? :frowning: It causes me a lot of errors during live performances.

Hi @Manuel_Alejandro, thanks for checking in. The engineering team is still working on some options for this, but don’t have anything ready for public release yet. I will push this topic with them again though and report back here when I have more news. Thanks!

I’m having this issue too, I’ve even tried turning off all grid snapping features like quantize and manually matched the bpm with the pitch slider, even using doubles of the same song and it seems to have a mind of its own when beat jumping beyond the beginning of the song.

Strange that even completely manual mixing doesn’t fix the issue.

It’s been over a year and I don’t think there’s much new to say about this bug. I believe the error also occurs at the end of the song.

Seems to ignore beat grid information outside of the track’s defined time range.

This simple yet very useful technique is virtually unusable thanks to this bug, since beat grid information outside the track time is ignored. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0sImKqhxjk

Hi @Manuel_Alejandro and @preciseblend, we don’t have any news to share regarding this except that our engineering team is still working on potential solutions/options. When I have more news I’ll share it here. Thanks!
