Vestax VCM-100 No sound output

Hi @basskaa, this sounds very unusual. I have passed this new information onto our engineering team to see if that helps. Unfortunately, we don’t have a VCI-100 to test this out though.

Hi again @basskaa, sorry for the delayed reply. I heard back from our engineering team. Since a fresh djay installation restores audio output, can you please try this again as a first step. While playlist creation shouldn’t logically affect audio routing, please disconnect the controller while creating playlists then reconnect the controller after playlist creation is complete. Hopefully this workaround helps. Thanks!

I have followed your recommendations. However, after 8–10 minutes of playback, the sound becomes distorted. I suspect this issue is caused by the device’s very old firmware. Thank you for your continued support."

You’re welcome. Okay thanks for checking @basskaa. Sorry that workaround didn’t work.

I’m experiencing the exact same issue, so I’d like to join the discussion here.

My Setup:

  • Controller: Vestax VCM-100

  • Device: iPad mini (A17 Pro)

  • OS: iPadOS 26.4

  • App: djay 5.6.4

I had been using the Vestax VCM-100 with iPadOS 18 without any issues, and everything was working perfectly. However, since upgrading to iPadOS 26, I’ve encountered the same problem described by @basskaa: “However, after 8–10 minutes of playback, the sound becomes distorted.”

I have already tried the following, but the problem persists:

  • Reinstalled the djay app.

  • Tried various adapters (both official Apple products and third-party ones).

Are there any known solutions or specific settings I should check to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @imageza, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. There are no additional recommendations beyond what has been shared above. Maybe some other VCI-100 users have discovered a workaround.

@basskaa “However, after playing for 8-10 minutes, the sound becomes distorted.”

I’ve found a workaround:
Open djay and the Camera app at the same time using Split View on iPad.

The sound distorts in full-screen mode, but it works fine if you keep the Camera app active and resize the djay window so it’s not quite full-screen.

It’s a bit tedious to use it this way, but it solves the problem for now.
(Just sharing this here in case it helps someone else!)

Now that you mention it, I seem to recall having to do something like turn WiFi or Bluetooth on then off to get my iPad to work properly with my VCI-400.

Yea I’ve been using my Vcm 100 for a while flawlessly and started getting distortion last year with it. My work around to not get distortion is I hook up my Omni turntable via usb c and when it’s hooked up the distortion never happens. I can play vinyl using the usb c out hitting “thru” and use the Eqs and fx and everything works good. When I hook up the turntable via rca I get the distortion instantly. It’s pretty annoying the mixer actually works really good and I use the pitch on mixer instead of pitch on turntable. I’ve tried using good cords and distortion still happens when it’s just iPad to vcm-100.

there’s no distortion when I output the sound to iPad speakers for some reason but when it’s the maya soundcard in the vcm thru rca out theres distortion.
