Before now. TF you want? I picked it back up, after dropping it last year due to bugs, to try to see if all the BS has been fixed yet and clearly it’s just gotten worse.
I’m a paying customer, not a beta tester. I’ll just go back to using one of the many other options out there.
Probably a lot more details about the file type, where you sourced them from, how you are loading them to the decks etc etc would be a good place to start.
Hi @POSM, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. I just tested Video Mode on my M1 MBPro with macOS 26.6.2 and djay 5.6.8 and everything seems to be working as expected. The first thing to rule out is the file itself. On Mac, djay’s video decks support H.264 and MPEG-4 at up to 1080p / 30fps, in .mov, .m4v or .mp4 — a file outside that (HEVC/H.265, VP9, .mkv, .avi, or 4K/60fps) will often load and play the audio fine with no picture at all. That catches most “it worked before, now it doesn’t” cases where a batch of files got re-downloaded or re-encoded somewhere along the way.
If your files are already inside that spec, then the next thing I’d check is whether you’re actually in Video mode and seeing the deck previews, or whether the audio is playing with the video window blank. Those are two different problems and they get fixed in two different places.
Does the audio play normally, and it’s only the picture that’s missing?
What container and codec are the files (right-click in Finder > Get Info, or open one in QuickTime Player > Window > Show Movie Inspector)?
Is it every video, or a specific folder/batch?
Are you loading them from Videos, My Files, or My Collection?
Any external display or projector connected when this happens?
If you could please also share a short screen recording of the issue, that would also help us to troubleshoot this issue further.
And just so it’s said — @Armigo and @STU-C were asking for the file details because that’s genuinely the fastest route to an answer here, not to give you a hard time. Let’s please keep it friendly here. Thanks!
Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
