Volume fader moving on its own on DDJ 400

I played a gig on Saturday night and the volume fader was moving up and down on its own within the software.

I pulled out the DDJ 400 power for a reset which usually fixes any bugs, but it still did it.

Could it be the fader needs some cleaning with compressed air?

Or would this be a software issue, however has never happened before.

DDJ 400 drivers are all update.
Djay is up to date along with MAC OS which is 14.6.1

Your question:

Stuff to check:

  1. If the Fader needs cleaning - DeoxIT Fader F Series With Shop | CAIG
  2. Is there a fan or aircon blowing directly on the controller? I had similar issues when I did a beach gig during a storm, the wet/salty wind kept messing with the faders until I put up a shield/barrier.
  3. Also try a different cable, it could be a cable/port connection issue.

Hi @funkyfresh16,

Could you please confirm whether or not @Michael_Wisniewski’s feedback was useful in your controller issue?

Happily awaiting your reply. Have a good day!

I am having the same issue! I’ve taken it apart, cleaned every bit of it. It’s still glitching, no idea what to do or what is the problem.

Hi @Jstbecool_b, based on your description, I suspect it is either a faulty fader or interference. Before replacing the fader, I would try using a properly shielded, high quality USB cable with dual ferrites on either end like the ones made by DJ TechTools.
