Waveform display corresponding to gain settings

Would it possible to display the waveform so it shows the gained signal? It seems to normalise in the small preview but not in the timeline? It’s hard to see tracks with lower gain. Can this be fixed?

Very best,

Jacob

Thanks for the suggestion and screenshot @Kushman. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!

I think, if to consider it, this should be an option, not a permanent change. You can see signal strengh from this, so the actual information is useful by itself. You can see how to work with the gain controls and plan accordingly.

Oh, I realized, maybe what you mean is, dispaly the changes in spectrogram according to the gain applied. that would be good, yes!

I get what you mean tho. We don’t want a normalized waveform by default, rather the gained signal set by the knob. I’d expect it to behave in the same order as when using neural filters, that the waveform outputs after the changes rather than prior. I think this is an option? Could be an option for gain setting too, I guess that would give more flexibility, but I don’t see the point here. @Akrilovy

I guess this depends on the software architecture if it allows the waveform to be affected by mixer settings. If not I’d suggest at least to have the option to normalize the view so we don’t just get a tiny hairline to work with as per the example.

It could also be the case that we’re in fact looking at a normalized signal and the mix is so odd that the waveform gets squished by large peaks. Perhaps then we could then have it display in a logarithmic fashion so the peaks aren’t so dominant and we get to see the gist of the waveform. @Slak_Jaw

Thanks for the addition info @Kushman. I’ll share this with the devs.
