i use a headphone amplifer with the mixtour and it brought in a lot of punch and detail
Which headphone amplifier are you using?
Fosi portable headphone amp. Currently discontinued but is similar to this . I was looking for a full battery operated option hence that choice. Otherwise for pretty cheap you can find great options.
Side question - Maybe you can help me? Does your Ready work with a laptop running DJay? ie not from a portable phone/ipad…
Yes, it works with my MacBook Air running Djay Pro AI. Don’t know about a Windows laptop though. According to Algoriddim’s website the Buddy is compatible with Windows, but they don’t show the Ready. Seems strange since these two controllers are very very similar.
I got a reply from ReLoop when asking them about this. They confirmed that Ready works with both Serato and Djay - but only you confirmed Djay works running from the mac laptop, so thank you very much! Really like the look of this Ready. Would you care to mention something about it you dont like? ReLoop told me Ready isnt exactly setup to use the neural mix, but I guess you can use it, just that the Ready knobs dont say voice, music, drums, is that right?
My only complaint about the Ready is that the LEDs for the performance pads are too dim to see during outdoor daylight use. In lower light situations it’s fine. The Buddy would have the same issue I think.
As for the Ready use with Djay, I always modify the default mappings to suit my DJing style and workflow and don’t really care if the labels on the hardware match what the software is doing. I remapped one of the performance pad modes to control Neural Mix Solo and Mute functions. Works great.
The Ready has more mappable controls than the Buddy, so for me this was the obvious choice. If you don’t want to modify the default mapping and prefer that the hardware labels match the software, then the Buddy might be a better choice for you.
Excellent. Thank you again. Can’t beat hearing from an actual user. I’m definitely a remapping type, so READY seems just right for me. I use Serato too, but find DJay actually better in many ways recently, double bonus.
I have had the iCloud gridding/cues issue where they simply do not recall from Mac OS to iOS and visa versa. It’s a mess. So I’ve been sticking with the laptop, and prefer it to the iPad glass tapping frustrations.
I have the Buddy as well as my backup controller and mapped it to my liking too.
The dimly lit pads is a bother when outdoors as Slak Jaw pointed out…
