What's the closest device to the Griffin DJ connect (discontinued) that I can use to get cueing and stereo out to an amplifier?

  • Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1):
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2):
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro):

Your question:

I don’t really want a controller, quite happy to use the djay interface on my touch screen iPad Pro but I would like to output stereo not just mono like my current splitter cable setup.

When you’re using the onboard audio of a computer/table/smartphone, you’ll only have one standard stereo output. Therefore, you can either split the signal into two separate mono channels (one for cue, one for master) or use an external interface with more channels. This is why people tend to go for controllers, as even cheap ones have the cue+master audio built in.

See for example the Numark DJ2GO 2
