Why does the hot cue button start playing the track?

  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): 13.6.2
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.1.3
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): Pioneer DDJ-400

Your question:

Why does a hot cue button start playing the track if I haven’t pressed the play button on a stationary track. Before I upgraded to the latest version, I could pause the track, hit a hot cue, (letting go after that) and the song would go to cue point and stay there. It’s a paused track after all so this makes sense. I could then hit loop start. Then i would do the same for the next cue point, and hit loop end. I’d have my perfect loop.

Now, since the upgrade, I’d pause the track, and when I press a hot-cue button, song now plays from the respective cue point. It was better before, when a paused track stays paused.

I can’t find a setting to change this back, please advise, or please change DJay back to the way it was. It was better.

That’s how hot cues normally work. You’ll find the same behaviour across many different DJ software/hardware.
