DJ Mixer: RMX95 with Phase

Because Windows only allows a device to talk to one app at a time, whenever I open DJ Pro and Reason at the same time all MIDI controllers stop working in Reason. I know that I can create a virtual MIDI port, and Reason lets me turn off MIDI devices, so I can select which are active there. However, I was very surprised to find that my DJ Pro interface/app does not appear to have the ability to select which MIDI devices get a config and simply binds to all of them. Is it really true that I cannot run DJ Pro and my DAW-of-choice on the same Windows machine at the same time?!
FYI: It is interesting to note that I CAN get audio to work because I have have my FocusRite handling the Reason stream and my ReLoop RMX95 handling my DJ Pro audio…it sounds great from DAW and turntable…it’s the MIDI only that is failing.
