Would you pay double for faster core feature development & improved stability?

Algoriddim don’t run the streaming providers! Any failures of those services is out of their control.

It’s also out of your control if you rely totally on streaming services to provide music. It’s up to you to ensure you have a collection of your own PURCHASED music stored locally to enable you to complete any bookings you undertake.

Spotify is not an option. They withdrew from DJ streaming in 2020.

Thanks for the info PK,

Up till Spotify was invented I had all my music on a plug in Hard Drive, it was because of the Spotify integration that I stopped collecting my music and relying on streaming, I regret that because I had some music that didn’t end up on Spotify. (I’ve been using DJay since 2014.)

I am perfectly happy that I am the DJ… the brain behind what track is played…

My concern is not with the music… it is when the application crashes mid set… which it has done twice to me over the past 20 years… once is once too often.

@DJ_Big_Blender _ Apparently we are both crazy enough to compile such a list? Are you in? Let me know. I would focus on 10-12 max items (considering few of them could be rejected). I think It’s better to have smaller list with bigger development possibility rather that big list with long waiting time. I would be happy to end up with 5 strong items.

Who else is there? @Slak_Jaw ?

With all due respect, two (!) crashes in 20 years is not really a problem. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You took the words right out of my mouth. I think all software bar non used regularly over a period of 20 years will have a couple of crash issues. New software releases, new feature sets and bugs etc. djay pro is very stable, has been for me anyway, but there will always be room for improvements.

Ideally, everyone in this thread could propose items for the list, but I think you and DJ Big Blender have been the most active in this discussion. So, I think it would be great if you both took the lead and initiative here. Obviously, I’m available to support in any way I can as well. Plus, I suspect at least one of the items on this list could be from a topic I created before I joined Algoriddim

That would likely make the buy-in cost prohibitive. I’d prefer to have to pay for an upgrade every 2-3 major releases AND have a bit more of an open scheme for buying a longer-term license, like this DAW’s: REAPER | Purchase

Even if these features were implemented, the workflow of these features is what I’m concerned about. I find a lot of Djays features useful but unintuitive.

Djay has some really useful features (other software don’t have) but I end up not using them bc there’s too much clicking, scrolling, opening menus, ect…or buggy to use them.

There’s a lot of cool features that exist already but need to be more intuitive for live performance.

I completely understand where you’re coming from @Donn —I had this as well in the beginning. Djay has so many features, tabs, and screens that the workflow can feel overwhelming during live performances and you need to have a lot of muscle memory to navigate it smoothly.

You could call that ‘interface anxiety’ or ‘cognitive overload,’ I guess. It’s that stress when features aren’t intuitive or easy to find when you need them. It took me a few months to get used to it.

So true…

I’ve noticed that during gigs, I’m a little bit affraid of doing too much on the laptop.
I rarely change the screens, hide/show different parts of gui, i.e use effects, looping etc.

Also my keyboard shortcuts are dropped to bare minimum, that I won’t try to avoid mistakes while perfoming.

OK. I’ll start working on my list. I prepare 5 most important things. 5 less essential. And 5 suggestions I wish to see. 15 in total. To keep it civilized. Give me a few days.

Sounds good. Thanks @Michael_Android. Take your time. I’ll be OOO until Jan 26 anyway…
