XDJ XZ \ RX3 and Stems level

  • Device model : 2021 16" M1 Max Macbook pro
  • Version of operating system: macOS 15.5
  • Version of djay : 5.3.2
  • Hardware/controllers used: PioneerDJ XDJ-XZ \ XDJ-RX3

Hi guys
Im trying to figure out if there is any way to change my controller’s eq to neural mix?
the knobs are able to send midi signals for sure i just cant figure out how to or even if its possible at all to make the swap between eq-ing and stems level.

Assuming that will be impossible to make the swap, can i use channels 3&4’s eq as stem level for channels 1&2? (XZ only)

its kinda sucks to buy a new device just for a software based feature (or is it?).

Thanks ahead to all and sorry if it was asked before i just couldn’t find any answer for that.

Hi @Shay_Manshary, welcome to the Community! Both the XZ and RX3 are External Mixer Mode devices. This means that the mixing is done inside the hardware and not in the djay software. So when you move the EQ controls, they are adjusting the EQs within the hardware itself and not via MIDI in the djay software. So, while you could theoretically MIDI map Neural Mix EQ control in djay to your Deck 1/2 EQ knobs, the EQs within the hardware would be engaged at the same time since djay has no control over these within the hardware.

If you do not use Deck 3/4 for mixing, then I think your best option would be to MIDI map these EQs to the Neural Mix EQs for Deck 1/2. I hope that helps!

Thanks for making it clear!
So ive been trying to MIDI map channels 3&4’s EQ knobs but DJAY dont seem to react to midi signals when i move the knobs as it reacts to other MIDI signals from the device. The ״send mixer midi" option on the XZ settings is turned on, other buttons do react inside DJAY.
i also couldnt find them directly in the list of mappable controls.
Is there a manual way to put the knob’s address inside DJAY’s midi learn?
as for an example - i own also a DDJ-XP2 and i made some customized mapping in serato by editing the XML file to activate the colored lights, djay’s midi preset file is kinda different.

(here is the midi message list for the XZ if anyone from the future will look for it.)

You’re welcome @Shay_Manshary. This probably means that these specific controls do not send MIDI and therefore cannot be MIDI mapped in the djay MIDI Learn tool.
