Hi all,
This is a follow-up to the discussion in the this thread in the Bugs-section: Loss of active deck selection via crossfader - 5.3
On the advice from @Slak_Jaw I made it a Feature request:
Since the update to djay Pro 5.3, the deck selection behavior has improved in many ways, but it also removed a key part of my workflow.
The Issue:
I have always disabled the crossfader for its original purpose, but I used to rely on it on my Reloop Mixon 8 to manually “point to” Deck A or B. This allowed me to preview automatically generated Matches not only for the current track, but also for the next track on the non-playing deck without interrupting live playback. Somehow, this worked perfectly in previous versions.
Since djay 5.3, the deck used for generating Matches is now strictly tied to the deck that is actually outputting audio. As a result, I can no longer use the crossfader to influence that behavior. The only way to preview Matches now is to actually play the track, which feels like a major limitation.
Feature Request:
Please consider adding a replacement for this removed but very useful behavior. For example, a dedicated MIDI-mappable command that allows us to assign a button (or preferably the crossfader) to manually choose which deck is used to generate Match suggestions. This command should override on that moment the currently selected or playing deck.
Restoring this kind of control would bring back the flexibility that djay previously offered to me, making it possible to look ahead at potential Matches for the next track without waiting or disrupting what is currently playing. This would allow us as DJs to plan ahead, be more creative and versatile, and to use Algoriddim’s technology to our maximum advantage.
Thank you in advance for considering this.
