šŸ“£ ANNOUNCEMENT: djay version 5.3 for macOS/iOS/Android and djay version 5.3.2752.0 for Windows

With the new update I’ve noticed the gain control on my individual channels doesn’t move when I move the gain on the M8 Pro, do you get this? Volume increases but the software doesn’t move the visual

Also on an iPad or phone you can’t reposition the cue points, this seems to be on Windows Pc or i presume a Mac only, is this correct?

Hi @Cuzer, please refer to the release notes shared above:

  • Auto gain: decoupled manual gain on hardware controllers from auto gain in software to allow for independent adjustments

  • Drag & drop support to re-arrange Cue Points and Saved Loops (macOS, Windows)

This is expected and intentional behaviour. If you’d like to discuss the gain topic in more detail, there is already a Community topic here: Gain via MIDI doesn’t move on-screen

My mistake. I hope you can find a solution.

New Mapping, Improved Support, Improved Mapping … I’m pleased that the support for controllers that have been compatible for a long time is also constantly being adapted. Unfortunately, and I mentioned this briefly here a while ago, there is no mention of what is actually new or different. This is somewhat annoying for users who have adapted the mappings to their needs, and I do this to a very large extent. Of course, I would also like to try out the new possibilities, but on the other hand I don’t want to lose all my customizations and perhaps have to redo them. It would therefore certainly be a good idea to somehow mention what exactly has changed.

Hi @Chris_R, sorry for the delay in responding. I must have missed your original post. As mentioned, this is not the ideal place to post specific questions or issues. However, I have reached out to the dev team to see if they can provide more details on what has specifically changed with the integrating MIDI mappings. I suspect the reason they do not provide more details on this is because it would clutter/over-complicate the release notes. Anyway, I will get back to you as soon as I have more info. Thanks for you patience and understanding.

Ah OK cheers @Slak_Jaw
I’m spending some time over the weekend getting my head around the new update I’ll see If I can get this working in a way I’m comfortable with

So you can’t move the cue pads off iPad then? Shame that as I don’t use via Mac, just the iPad

Thanks for confirming

You’re welcome @Cuzer. That is correct.

At the moment, this is only reserved for MacOS or Windows. But that’s something I’ve never missed. Apparently there is a need for it though, so here’s a question for those who use it: What’s behind it, why do you do it, what are the advantages? I would be rather confused if the order in the track is different from the order on the controller or the touchscreen. But maybe I’ve overlooked something …

This is not an argument. Currently, transferring code between WIN, IOS, LIN platforms is easy. The company simply favors IOS users or is lazy and does not want to fully support other users, and yet we all pay. Even the instructions for WIN and the program’s capabilities described on the website are not fully implemented in the PC version.

Why is the Windows version still outdated with instructions, doesn’t have the same functionality as the iOS version? For example, where is the version with the light interface, doesn’t have the Neural Mix Fader?

Processing power and processing architecture I guess would hold development back on other platforms.

The processing power on iOS devices are now equivalent to computers and djay started out as an iOS app first btw.

I doubt android devices can handle everything that’s thrown to iOS devices. I’ll even go are far as saying the same for windows machines.

Hi @Artur_Fomienko, thanks for the feedback. Please note that while we’re aiming for future parity, the djay apps on different platforms (macOS, iOS, Windows, Window ARM, and Android) are developed individually and therefore offer different features. We do appreciate your feedback and apologize that user manual is out of date. Actually, all of user manuals are in the process of being updated, but as you might imagine this is a big task as we have been rapidly innovating and constantly adding new features to djay on all platforms. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that the program runs worse and has less functionality on Windows. It’s the same on Android.
I really like the program, though, and for the game I bought a used iPhone 12 Pro.
Even on iPhone, the program works differently than it does on macOS, but it’s better than on Android and even on Windows.

I’ve written about the fact that the program can’t normally be ported to Windows. Just look at the pop-up windows that don’t have a scroll bar. I got tired of spinning the mouse wheel, and I wrote about it here on the forum. But nothing’s changed.

I lost hope for Djay Pro + Windows&Android and decided to switch to macOS and iOS system for DJing.

If you are watching YT videos. Sure. In the real world with an already existing code base, not so.

Not really. Just look at the origin of the software. If anything, the non-Apple platforms have gotten a truckload of love the last couple of years.

Hi again @Artur_Fomienko, please note the the Neural Mix Crossfaders are available on Windows. You first must enable the Neural Mix bar using the ā€œNā€ icon near to top left of the screen and then select the ā€œtwo arrow iconsā€ at the top right of the words NEURALMIX. Please see below. I hope that helps!

I’m having a major issue with DJAY right now. Many of my OGG files won’t work on my iPad (locally stored) — some show up as corrupted, and others don’t appears malformed in the app. I’ve already submitted a bug report, but I’m curious if anyone else is running into this issue. I cant be the only one here.

A post was split to a new topic: NM Crossfader mapping issue

Thanks for the update. I really like the new crossfader effects Neural Mix Fade and Echo out. I only wish the menu for the Crossfader FX would pop up, let me choose the desired effect and then disappear after a few seconds. I can map them as a secondary function to the rotary knob on my FLX4 (which lets you scroll through the library) by pressing the shift button. That would be the perfect solution, if only I could see what I’m doing, when turning the knob. Please make it possible with the next update
