Audio device issue. Main output - No device found.

Device Model PC ( 7800X3D / 64GB 6000 MTs / 1TB NVME )
Version of operating system Windows 11 Pro 24H2
Version of djay (ex. 5.1.3): 5.4.3791.0
Hardware/controllers used (ex. Reloop Ready): FLX2 / XDJ-RX3
Hardware Firmware Version (ex. 2.7): FLX2 N/A / RX3 - 1.19

Not that this really matters imo, switchable main output device is core functionality in my book - especially with people who like to juggle their audio devices

5.4 Introduced both this missing output device and bad audio crackling.. after having used the previous versions for a long time without issue.. perhaps a deep dive into this on your end will come up with something?

Thanks for the additional details @mvz. Our team is aware of these bugs that were introduced in 5.4 and they are already working on solutions. In the meantime, there’s a workaround for the main audio output as described above.

Please start by connecting only one audio output device to your Windows laptop. This workaround will not work if you connect multiple devices. Then please use the Reset to Defaults button at the bottom of the Audio Devices menu and your controller should work as expected regardless of what the UI says.

The key info here was “only one audio output device”. I had to unplug my docking station and USB hub and simply plug the controller (i have a DDJ-400) directly into my laptop’s one USB port. “Reset to default” then routes the main output via the controller’s RCA cables to my speaker setup.
Hoping we get the fix soon, though!

any update about 5.4.2

Hi @saravut_thongbai, welcome to the Community! The team is hoping to have this ready for next week. I’ll share more news here when I have it.

Actual temp workaround for windows:
Open Djay Pro.
Open this file in text editor (i recommend vs code)
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\59BEBC1A.djay_e3tqh12mt5rj6\LocalCache\Local\Algoriddim\djay\Preferences
Go to djay pro, settings, audio devices, mixer mode: external
select your desired device for deck 1, there it somehow works to select.
now switch to vs code.
Find the part of the file that says “externalTurntable1DevicePort”. Copy the content of node “string”.
Tab back to djay pro. switch to internal mixer mode again, tab back to vs code.
Find part “masterDevicePort”.
Replace node content with what you copied.
cant really post screenshots i hope you can figure it out with this instructions anyway.

Save file, tab back to djay pro, should work.

At least for me then it plays. Dont touch that part of the menu again.
If it happens again, repeat this procedure.

As a note to algoriddim.
I am a software developer myself, it should not require me to “debug” your software to make it function if im trying my hobby. its not acceptable for the time you need to do a fix for this, no audio is a huge bug. ppl are relying on your software and doing gigs. I am pretty surprised that you dont come up with this “solution” yourself to help the people here, it took me like an hour to find out and i didnt write your software, i just did what seemed to make sense to me, dig up the config file and play around with it.
For most people that is not a natural thing to do and a fix should be already out, i paid for the software and since three weeks its broken - cant play any audio without this workaround.
I understand might time to fix the bug but its really critical, a dj software really needs its audio working.
sorry if im coming across a bit harsh, but its really frustrating to have this problem.

To say something positive (off topic): I really prefer djay over the competitors, it’s pretty fast and has nice FX, ui… The big names don’t seem to care, one had small confusing icons and gave me a hard time selecting output devices as well, was not good on iPad (only audio from the controller there), the other big name did need me to enable a hdpi mode to look useable on my screen (why is that a separate manual setting), djay is alot better than them, does not have these flaws, looks much more like a modern software, I can see the hard work that went into it and it is very fun to use.

Jolis, This worked for me 100% and i could easily repeat it if i had to. you deserve a medal and a credit for a free year of software access, if you ask me.

To be clear to anyone reading, you’re looking for a plist file and you’re best to open it in a code editor application like “vs code.”
