Audio skips (hickups) on the playing deck → Master/mixer output

  • Device model: Apple Mac mini M2 Pro & Macbook Air M3
  • Version of operating system: macOS 26.5.1
  • Version of djay: 5.6.5
  • Hardware/controllers used : NI Traktor Kontrol S3 with and without

When activating the microphone using the on-screen (slide)button or on an external controller, the audio skips (hickups) on the playing deck

Happens everytime, doesn’t matter if an external controller is connected or if I use Djay stand alone and on both my MacOS computers.

Please find attached a screen-recording I made. You can hear beat (tempo) skips and clicks when the mic is switched on and off. (Please listen with headphones or “real” speakers.)

The recording is made on my Macbook Air M3 with no external controller or external soundcard attached, as stand-alone as possible

Please advice, thanks.

Thanks for the video @HansDNL. Can you please confirm what you are using for a microphone since you have no controller our external soundcard connected?

The microphone selected is/was the internal mic in the Macbook Air M3 but it doesn’t matter if I select the mic input on the Traktor Kontrol S3 (when the controller is connected) or my Komplete Audio 6, the skips/hickups are the same.

Thanks for the additional info @HansDNL. Do you know if this is a new issue with 5.6.5 or if it was also present in previous versions?
I was able to reproduce this on my setup and have passed it onto our engineering team for further review. I’ll report back when I have more news. Thanks!

Maybe useful extra info: The issue is not present in the iPad version. All is fine there.

  1. Device model: Apple iPad (9th generation)
  2. Version of operating system: iPadOS 26.5
  3. Version of djay: 5.6.5
  4. Hardware/controllers used : NI Traktor Kontrol S3 (connected via Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter)

The issue is still there in version 5.6.6

You are offcourse aware of that but just as info for others that follow this.
