Automix not playing local songs in order

  • Device model: MacBook Pro 16 inch 2024
  • Version of operating system: macOS 15.4.1
  • Version of djay: 5.3.1

Issue:
Since version 5.3 I have the problem that when I start Automix in the Two deck view, the playlist that is loaded gets random songs put into from a previous played playlist. So after the two first song from the cued playlist the automix randomly put a song that not in the playlist and cues it in the other deck(songs from previous played playlist what I experienced). Also when I then manually cue the right song in my playlist that it also happens to play the song only in instrumental FX…

How to reproduce the issue:

Hi @rvw, welcome to the Community! It sounds like you might be using Matching Songs in your Automix instead of Current Playlist.

Thanks for your reply! how ever the source is already at “Current playlist”

You’re welcome @rvw. Do you have “Shuffle” accidentally enabled?

Also not in shuffle. I would love to send you a video of the problem, how ever I can’t upload because im a new user?

Okay, I’ve upgraded you to Basic User. Please try to share your video now…

Here you see that the third song is playing wrong and the after manually reset to the the third song in the playlist, the Messy song gets cued wrong and double…

Thanks for the video @rvw. What is the source of songs in this playlist (ex. streaming service, MP3s stored on your internal SSD, FLAC files stored on an external drive, etc.)?

Files are local stored files (iCloud Drive) .flac and .mp3 files

Do you have the playlist on the left sorted by BPM, Key, Time, etc.? This could be the reason why the track order on the left doesn’t match the order on the right.

Also, please try turning OFF the Repeat option:

Playlist is sorted by (track) number. As you can see in the first colum.

The repeat function needs to be ON, because at the end of the playlist it need to start again
This always has worked flawless for many years.

I would try the following. Close djay, reboot your Mac. Launch djay, sort the playlist on the left by track number first, load the first song into Deck 1 and also into Deck 2, then press the Start Automix button.

I did and unfortunately it is still cueing wrong numbers during automix instead of following the playlist numbers. There is also not a set order what number the atomic suddenly puts in, looks like it shuffling number randomly during playback (while that option is OFF).

Okay, thanks for trying that. You mentioned iCloud Drive above. Can you please confirm in Finder that all of the songs in this playlist are fully downloaded to your device and available offline?

yes, All the songs are downloaded from the iCloud and saved local.

Strange. I am unable to replicate this myself, so I’ll need to pass this onto engineering for further analysis. I’ll report back when I have more news.

Hi again @rvw, it might help if you could provide a screen recording that starts right from the launch of djay before loading any songs and starting Automix. Just so we can see all the changes in state that happen. Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw I just recorded the video. When I start te app and start de first playlist the problem doesn’t happend. How ever when I start a second playlist without rebooting the software the problem happens again. Like I said, I have used your software(for years) the same way with playlists after each other in Automix without rebooting without a problem…?
