Beatgrid slides back and front at first start

Library tested: Apple Music local and Tidal.

When loading a new song on my Rane Performer or Rane One MK2, and pressing sync, and playing the song from beginning. The beatgrid slides in place, but then out of “order”, and then back again.
Before it would just get to the right grid really fast. Now it’s not. It goes right, then short off, and then back again. If I hit play, silent cue and then uses a hot cue, it works like it did before.

Hi @RobustaDK, so you’re on macOS 26.1 and djay 5.5.1? Since this sounds repeatable, can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

I think it’s a motor thing.
I just upgraded to 5.5.2 as well to test the latest version
Mac M3 on 26.1
Drivers installed for both Performer and One mk2. And both on latest firmware as well.
If I press and hold a pad, and the press play while keeping the pad pressed, the motor starts and the music plays on. Then this is not happening. Both scenarios are in the video.

  1. I think I see what you’re talking about, but it seems pretty subtle. Is this brief sync alignment audible on the master output or just visible onscreen?
  2. What Sync and Quantize settings are you using?
  3. Does this happen consistently with all songs?
  4. Can you please confirm if the songs used in your examples are Straight BPM or Dynamic BPM?
  5. If you disable Key Lock, does the Sync work better?
  6. You said this used to sync more immediately before. Can you confirm in which version of djay you noticed this change?

The visible part is not a problem. The sound is the problem. If you can reproduce it, you will hear it.
No quantize
Dont remember the sync settings, will follow up.
The symptom only occured for me with straight BPM.
I cant really find a pattern, maybe songs that needs to be reanalyzed. But the last example video is made after I tried to find a better example. At first load, the song was a lot worse than what I demonstrate in the video.
I have not tried to disable key lock.
I can not confirm the versions. I update on a regualr basis, but its a thing I have experienced for less than 6 months (probably less).
