Hi everyone,
I’m following up on this issue regarding the mixed Booth/Headphone knobs behavior on the DDJ-RR.
After digging into the XML file (following my recent deep-dive into the controller’s mapping, as discussed here), I believe I have identified the root cause of the problem.
The Error: It seems to be, once again, an error in the Native Mapping provided by Algoriddim. Upon inspecting the MIDI configuration for the Booth Monitor Knob on the DDJ-RR, I realized it was incorrectly mapped to “Main Output Volume” instead of “Booth Monitor Volume”.
The Fix: I manually remapped the knob to the correct target:
- Target: Mixer
- Action: Booth Monitor Volume
Result: At home, this seems to separate the channels correctly, solving the “mixed knobs” issue. I still need to confirm this in a live club environment to be 100% sure the audio routing behaves as expected under stress, but it looks promising.
A Note for the Devs: This finding reinforces my theory that the native mapping for the Pioneer DDJ-RR is not fully polished (similar to the missing PAD FX inputs I reported recently). Furthermore, I noticed on the Official Hardware Pagethat many controllers have “Booth Output” listed as not supported. I wonder if this is actually a hardware limitation or if, like in this case, it’s simply a mapping oversight where the knob is pointing to the wrong variable in the software. It might be worth a review!
I will report back after the club test.
Best, Albert_Maro
