Crunchy Sound after some minutes playing

Hi there,

Sorry but i has been quite busy without time to move forward with this matter.

I tried several things but the problem still there, below you can find the sample proccess capture when the issue is there:

Can you please take a look?

Thanks in advance

Hi @jorgegalve, thanks for the sample process. I will pass this onto engineering for further review. Just out of curiosity, are you playing the main audio through your Mac built-in speakers or is the main audio coming through speakers connected to the RMX-95? Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw,

The audio is played through the RMX95, in fact the macbook is only connected with an USB cable and used to play Djay Pro. Everything is connected to the RMX95 (audio, pre cue, etc…)

Usually i use the RMX midi device as it’s but for testing purposes i created an aggregated audio device with the RMX & internal mac audio, in order to change the midi clock and sample rate… but same results.

P.S.: the icloud is turned off

Thanks

Jorge

Okay, thanks for the additional info @jorgegalve. I’ll share this with engineering.

Hi again @jorgegalve,

  1. Was that sample process taken when the issue was occurring?
  2. Does this also happen if you do not have an external audio interface and are just use the built-in Macbook speakers?

Thanks!

1 - yes
2 - didn’t tried that, i have been using Djay for many years with a reloop beatpad without issues.

Problem started when start using my new equipment (1×RMX95 + 2×LC6000) and using the RMX95 EQ with neural mix.

I can try few options:

1-using the same equipment without neural mix EQ
2-using only internal (no external hardware) with neural mix EQ
3-using only internal (no external hardware) without neural mix EQ

Option 2 and 3 can be tested this week, But option 1 will take me a while to test as I’ll be traveling next two weeks.

I’ll give you feedback about option 2 and 3 asap

Regards

Okay, thanks for the additional info @jorgegalve. Looking forward to hearing more about testing the options above.

EDIT: Please also confirm that your RMX95 is running the latest firmware (1.01). Have you tried using a a different USB cable?

Hi @Slak_Jaw,

Yes, the RMX is using the 1.01 firmware version. I didn"t try a different cable cause it’s the cable which came with the mixer.

Do you have any suggedtion about a good usb cable brand or model to be used?, i have no problems to but it and try

Thanks for confirming your firmware @jorgegalve. I normally recommend high quality, properly shielded USB cables with dual ferrites on either end to reduce signal interference. You can check out the Chroma Cables from DJ TechTools if you don’t have something suitable at home to try.

Hi @jorgegalve,

Thanks for sharing this.

I was an extensive user of Neural Mix Stems and often assigned them to the EQ knobs. However, I’ve encountered several issues while using them, including:

  • Sound quality degradation (crunchy/distorted audio)
  • Stuttering or even complete stoppage of tracks during playback
  • Tracks failing to start unless reloaded

I don’t have the same setup as you (I use: Reloop Mixon 8 Pro), but like you, I relied on Neural Mix with EQ buttons frequently. Unfortunately, due to these issues, I’ve had to stop using it. It seems we both experience problems when using Neural Mix via the EQ knobs, which might be a common factor.

I’ve also recorded some examples. Would you be able to check out this video and try it yourself to see if you encounter the same issues?

Thanks in advance!

These issues have led to two lengthy threads as Bug Reports with a lot of communication, but so far, the problems have not been resolved—despite Algoriddim support stating a few weeks ago that they are "onto something.

As you can read unfortunately Algo development is not allowed to be generous with information regarding the current status.

Here are the 2 related cases:

Hi @DJ_Big_Blender,

I’ll take a look to your video but my first impression is than my issue is worst, the sound in my equipment is getting worst to a level than it’s impossible to listen. Check the video on top out: https://youtu.be/vUZLpRiF_ro
It’s solved f9r few minutes if i change one of the sound source (like headphones from RMX95 to internal)

As said, i have been using Djay Pro for many years without issues with the same laptop and the main difference is the use of Neural Mix over the mix table knobs.

To me looks like there is a software issue when using neural EQ with knobs, not sure if it’s about computer performance, software related or MIDI syncronism.

My point is, i will not have had any issue to replace my laptop for a M4 Mac Mini or the new M4 Macbook Pro if this fix the issue, but i have serious doubts this will solve the problem

jorge

Thanks for your reply.

No, computer power should be more than enough. And if not there should be a warning / limitation for this software-wise and not that we as users have to find out for ourselves the hard way.

Hi again @jorgegalve, can you please test the suggestion above from earlier? Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw,

I have been playing almost 1 hour using the internal audio interface with the 4 decks using Neural Mix at the same time (continuously playing with the knobs at the screen) and I haven’t any issue, means this is related to the External audio interface (RMX95).

This is the link to the sample process sample-13-03-2025.txt - Google Drive

And this is a link to the screenshot of the audio config into the OSX preferences

My question is… How it’s possible I’m having this issues with a Mixer created for Djay Pro and certified by you?

Please let me know what the solution can be, because I don’t want to return the mixer or to change the DJ software

Thanks in advance

Hi @jorgegalve, thanks for the additional info and links. This is very helpful! I’ve passed it onto the engineering team for a deeper analysis. It’s possible that the issue could be with your older Mac and Neural Mix as your specs are on the borderline. Let’s wait to see what the team says though…

EDIT: Do you have a newer iPhone or iPad that you could test with the RMX-95 to see if the same issue exists?

If it’s the problem i think you can replicate easily, pick a rmX95, connect 2 x Denon LC6000 and try to use a Macbook Pro late 2013.

As said, I’ll have no issues to buy a Mac Mini M4 or the new Macbook Pro M4 if it’s 100% confirmed than there is no issues over there.

Considering than @DJ_Big_Blender is having issues with a 2019 Macbook Pro… Can this be INTEL related?

regards

Hi @Slak_Jaw,

Yes, I can test with a modern Ipad… will let you know… but it will be nice to get an answer from your engineering team about the sample processes i uploaded, i have the feeling to works for nothing.
Sure they can find something in the first sample process i uploaded compared with the second one.

Something I don’t understand is how you said than my Mac is on the borderline considering your website doesn’t speak about hardware limitations and theoretically your software works over OSX 10.15 and i’m using 11.7.10 OSX version.
Will be more easy if you say than "NeuralMix is not working with external audio devices if the Mac Hardware is not over “xyz” model…

This will stop our frustration and the number of hours we spent trying to figure out what the problem can be.

Cheers

Jorge

Thanks for the additional info and feedback @jorgegalve. I will let you know as soon as I hear back from engineering regarding the Sample Processes you provided.

I was only speculating regarding your hardware performance, so I could be wrong. Again, let’s wait to hear back from engineering. Thanks again!

Hi again @jorgegalve, the engineering team said there was nothing obvious in the sample processes you provided. Also, regarding Neural Mix, we improved performance in djay 5.2.9 on Intel Macs with our new optimized models, so please confirm that you are using the latest 5.2.9 version of djay.

  • It would still be helpful if you could try mixing with the RMX95 but without Neural Mix to see if you still reproduce the issue.
  • Can you also please confirm if you are using Keylock or not? If you are, can you please try reproducing the issue with Keylock OFF?
  • As suggested earlier, please also try using a different USB cable between the RMX95 and the Mac.

Thanks!
