Custom Looper packs

Hi everyone, I spoke with the dev team. Thanks again for your messages and for sharing your thoughts openly.

We receive a huge number of feature requests from our community, covering many different workflows and creative use cases. While we work hard to address as many of them as possible across our regular updates, we completely understand how frustrating it can be when the one feature that matters most to you hasn’t made it yet.

The idea of using your own loops in the Looper is something we’ve been looking into and it involves several layers of technical complexity. There’s a big difference between importing a fully prepared loop pack that’s aligned to a fixed BPM versus loading in arbitrary loops and having them auto-sync in real time (it’s like going from 4 to 12 decks essentially with various performance considerations involved).

That said, we’d really love to explore this further. To better understand implications for working with the audio you’d like to import, it would be helpful to share examples of a Looper-style pack you’d like to use. This would help our team better understand how it’s structured and evaluate possible paths forward. We can’t make any promises but it can get us a step closer by narrowing down the core use case here. Thanks!

Hi All
ATM you can create a sample and store it in/under my samples.
When I switch to loop sample packs drums/Hihats etc they stay in sync with
the decks but when I load my own beat sample which I extracted from a track
via wave pad it only plays for 4 or 8 beats.
If I press record it switches to a 4 beat or 8 beat loop and remains active
as a loop however it does not sync to the decks and you can hear fairly
quickly that it’s gone out of sync.
This mainly happens on lower bpm’s 100bpm to 120bpm…for some reason if I
load a sample of 128/129 and up, It remains synced but u almost have to
nurse it by repressing the activation button continuously to get it to
activate precisely in sync with the decks…almost like you would just
touch a record or give it a slight nudge to bring the bpm in line with
another deck.
Pls see what U can do. I have no doubt it would be an awesome feature. Tnx

Hi @Mike_Mareen, it sounds like you are using the Sampler and not the Looper. Can you please capture a short screen recording of your issue above to help clarify what is happening? Thanks!

Any updates on the the custom loop packs?

Hi @Dj99.x, we don’t have any updates to share.

Not sure how good recording is going to be with this software when you have a stock loop running that everyone will recognize. Dj 101 not to do….. fyi custom is key ALWAYS.

How soon because without this feature I will be forced to switch

Hi @Surf_Mutt, welcome to the Community! We don’t have a timeline to share for this suggestion.

Look at Traktors mixed decks. That’s exactly what I would like to see. Where I grab a sample, loop it and drag it into an empty slot and sync it.

Thanks for sharing @FLORIDA_BEAT_MAKERS

This is the missing piece de resistance, the final key in the lock, that opens the door from DJ to producer software. The ability to add custom loops, sync the looper BPM with the playing deck, and map the looper on/off toggles into midi (…note - still cant find this last piece in DJAY Pro for Mac even though other threads say it is there)

Fingers crossed, is it a pipe dream? is someone working on it? or is the looper just a dormant kid’s toy for the ipad version that will get phased out in future? Inquiring minds want to know…

Thanks for the input @TEEE. I don’t have any specific news that I can share regarding this suggestion.

I’ve been creating my own loop kits for about half a year: (Mac OS)

  • Find the folder where the original loop packs are stored (…/Content Packs)
  • Create a backup copy of the pack you want to modify
  • Load your custom loops into the folder
  • Replace the loop name with an original name. That’s it!

Important:

  • Loop length (bars) must be identical
  • Loop tempo must be identical
  • Not suitable for harmonic loops, as they get pitched via tempo changes

The only thing I’m missing is that I can’t customize the loop name. Otherwise, I’m super happy with it!

Hi @uptowndylan, welcome to the Community! Thanks for sharing.

not sure I wanna admit this - but im working on a way to load loops from any source into a grid, define the length, the # of beats, etc, and the software find what beat packs I can replace - and duplicates and replaces them. I’m 85% accurate. All vibe coded. and, I think it’s insanely cool.

would LOOOOOVE this process for the software in a legitimate method. haha

Definitely interested in this. Would love to add my own loops and have them sync.

Thanks for the feedback @FLORIDA_BEAT_MAKERS

cool! go on!!
