Djay Pro for Windows Crashes after 2 hours of djing! Big Fail!

Hello,
I just bought the full version of Djay pro,
I use it mixing playlist from Itunes and Spotyfy.
So i set up a playlist in the Queue and let automix go through the list. While making small adjustments to the list or manual transitions half way some songs but I am not using any transition effects or any kind of sound enhancement.

After aprox 2 hours of playing music the program crashes half way a song. It has happen twice already so I am not using the program, the first time i was updating the playlist so i thought it was my fault or a glitch. But the second time the music was just playing half way a song and it stooped and crashed out of the blue.

This is a serious problem because I am not using the program for recreational proposes. And it has gotten me into a real awkward spot.

This are my computer Specs

Lenovo pc Y50-70
Intel Core I7-4720HQ @2.60ghz
8 Gb Ram
Nvidia Gtx 960

And I am using an external Usb Analog Mixer for the Audio output
Henyx Q502USB (Behringer)

With the same hardware I have never experience a crash neither in Spotyfy or Itunes.

I hope you can bring a solution soon or in case you cant I will ask you to refund the money, because this is unacceptable, It is a real shame/ I was really looking foward to this windows version of Djay Pro, but such a fatal crash while playing makes it useless.

This happens to me all the time. I don’t think I’ve ever used djay at a party or event without it crashing at least once. About a week ago I resolved to get to the bottom of it and fix it if that is at all possible. Here’s what I’ve tried (and discovered) so far.

I have already updated Windows 10 drivers for Video, Sound, Network as well as tweaked my OS to make it more stable.

Its not likely my laptops power supplies. I have both 65w and 135w, It has happened using both. Currently I am using only the 135 when testing just to be sure that my PC is not throttling.

While trying to figure this out I’ve stopped using a hub or my novation launchpad.

It is not likely my mouse as I managed to run djay pro for 22 consecutive hours without a crash with my mouse attached. (windows 10 doesn’t allow my trackpad on my laptop to scroll within djay pro so I bought a compact logitech mouse to access the full set of settings in djay pro)

With my higher wattage power supply and mouse attached I had a crash leaving it running overnight (this is how I’ve been testing out its stability) with the addition of my DDJ-SX. So if I wanted to be a smart ass Id suggest running DJAY Pro without a controller, Problem Fixed! haha

I have a huge list of things I plan on trying in the coming evenings to troubleshoot this as I do like Djay Pro, mostly because of Spotify integration (but can’t use it in public until this is resolved).

Today I reinstalled Drivers and firmware for DDJ-SX as well as swapped to another usb port and new usb cable.Tonight I will run it again after a fresh reboot (minus the mouse just in case the mouse and controller have a conflict)

If this doesn’t cut it, I will tinker with usb drivers

I will try out my other 2 controllers (Wego3 and Mixon4)

If still no luck I may resort to uninstalling Serato, Traktor and Virtual DJ at least temporarily.

Also, it would be great if you guys had some sort of developer version or something that actually provided a crash report or a least told me what time it shut down. I don’t suppose you have a suggestion as to a third party tool or something I could use to monitor whats going on when Djay crashes?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Its very odd that Djay is stable without a controller but subject to crashes when the controller is attached.

Contrary to what I thought before it really seems to correspond with having my mouse plugged in (it uses the logitech unifying receiver). I’m pretty sure I have been crash free whenever the mouse is unplugged.

I’m still working on figuring out the workaround.

I am going to try different drivers for my usb bus, and chipset.

I also plan on trying the usb dongle in a hub (I’ve already tried all ports).

If all this fails I am going to try out a few different mice to see if the other ones also do this.

I have kind of given up on trying to track down the cause of this as it happens eventually regardless of configuration. It took over 24 hours to crash with my mixon 4 but fact of the matter is this software crashes eventually regardless of how I set up my rig.

I have 4 different things responsible for this in my windows error report files. If anyone actually wanted to see said error reports to debug I’d be glad to send them along. At this point I can’t do anything to fix it so I’ll give up till someone tells me where to send my WERs.

You think it’s a issue of too little ram? Shouldn’t the page file take care of that? And how much ram could 4 pitched wav files, ui, and a browser possibly eat up? I mean unless you are mixing video… but even still.

A little update,

Seen some improvement in recent builds I think. So I decided to give Djay Pro “The Test” again. I run four looped spotify Tracks till djay pro eventually crash’s.

On my first try she broke her previous record by not crashing for 42 hours. Previously the best recorded test was a shade over 30 hours and most attempts were less than 8.

Will try again to verify this wasn’t a fluke. If shes still running in 24 hours from now I will be a little closer to trusting djay pro for a live set.

So another 35 hours later combase.dll is the module that faulted again (I’ll save with pasting the whole Report.wer).

So far Its promising in that its been the same module (used to be 4 separate modules) and longer than 24 hours.

Why does DJay pro mac or PC simply not uses a crash dump file ?

That could be much more easy for everyone, every dj software can crash in some very rare circumstances, reproducing them are really difficult, having all the details of the crash in a dump file that Djay developpers can ready should be very usefull.

Djay pro sound for me the best doesn’t matter on which hardware, i like it for the sound quality but until they are really investing time and development in it, i won’t pay it and use it in any event…

There is so many work to perform on that software, just crazy…

I have the same problem, and am forced to use a backup sound source on my mixer to continue the mix. One can actually predict when the program is going to crash: slow loading, spotify lists are lagging, actually the whole UI starts to lag. For me it is then time to switch to the alternative sound source and restart Djay Pro. Always a stressful moment.

Setup: Microsoft Surface Pro i5, Xone DB4, Virtual Audio Cable for splitted ASIO.

Wishlist: native ASIO support, stable continuous use for 4+ hours.

I contacted Algoriddim on the chat in Facebook a few weeks ago. I asked them, when the ddj sz would be finally integrated in the windows verion. lukas could tell me that they are currently working on an integration. I asked him if he could give me more specific information as to when we could expect an update. he said that he can not give any specific information about that, but he could tell me that they are working on a rather extensive update for windows.

I personally could even imagine that it will be a pro 2 on which they are currently working
