Yeah I’m with you on this one. I know the default answer is “Ask them to give us permission to use this feature” or somesuch…but thats nonsense. In other words - Algo framing it as the fault of the controller manufacturers. And I get it - adding support for built in screens adds another engineering lift, but if VDJ can do it, so can Djay.

Agreed. The Pioneer stuff is easier for them too, as the screen GUI comes from within the hardware, so doesn’t need to be “drawn” by the software.
On iOS Djay Pro is now called Djay.

I have been DJ’ing since 1982 when two turntables a mixer records some serious ideas and room to grow in skillset, I have seen people DJ’ing on reel to reel, two cassette players, cd players heck even seen people dj with carts ( which were used in radio stations to make commercials and psa’s ) I uave heard the word “professional” used on many different levels, heck if you were a dj in Stuttgart, Germany in some of the clubs there in the late 1980’s in my opinion you are a professional, if you were a dj that had that big ol’ Chevy van loaded with records and equipment and had everyone dancing, you are a professional, equipment, software does not make you a professional it is how you use what is in front of you. I have used and owned every piece of dj equipment from Gemini, Numark, Pioneer before Pioneer became a household name in DJ’ing, Sony, Technics, Vestax and yes every known software, remember Final Scratch? My thing is some people are hung up on what they see on YouTube, Instagram, etc and think because a majority of the content creators are giving their opinion, which 90% is crap in my opinion. Shoutout to DJ MoJaxx, DJ Angelo, and DJ Carlo, DJ Blakely for their insight on DJ’ing they actually show respect to up and coming dj’s. Now my take on Algoriddim DJay Pro. Yes it is PRO SOFTWARE, some gripe about the implementation of how Algoriddim just makes it fun to dj and broadens the landscape for ideas and pure creativity with stems and just how the software works with and without “sync”. Plus the fact that other major dj manufacturers are “green lighting” the unison of their controller’s with Algoriddim DJay Pro, ok there may be some future Research and Development on the horizon for that platform of a controller that uses Algoriddim DJay Pro across windows, mac, ios, android and who knows maybe even Linux, I have Algoriddim DJay Pro on every piece of computer, ipad, mac and even with my Xplore tablet, so to say it is not pro ? Ignore that mindset from people, and sit back and take notice, can they do a mix, blend, mashup on the spot ? Heck I even use Algoriddim DJay Pro for turntablist use. Be happy with Algoriddim DJay Pro, this group is a family, heck maybe the theme song might just be ‘We are the Algoriddim DJay Pro family” “ ai got some dope a”” mixes with me “ .

To me, what makes DJ hardware/software “Pro”?
#1 Predictability.
Pioneer equipment is simple and doesn’t change much from generation to generation. But it’s got what you need. And, yo know it’s going to work.
This is where, sadly, Djay falls short of “Pro” for me.
There are several reasons, biggest being the library not using standard file paths for local files, resulting in duplicate “ghost” files, amongst other issues caused by metadata changes.
Other less hair pulling-ly frustrating, but still annoying, is the lack of any means of setting a master tempo deck. Or, maybe you can do it, but there’s no indication of which deck is the master. And even crazier, the crossfader position automatically determines the tempo master deck… with no way to turn this off.
So, that removes predictability in my opinion… and makes Djay “Not Pro”.
Not to say it’s not fantastic sofware. I think it could get to the point of being fully reliable, predictable, and working for more of the 35-45 old “working DJ’s”… but, it’ll need a lot more control over the “automations” so it can offer the same control DJ’s using other hardware/software are used to.

I really like Djay, especially the fluent beatgrid and the stems. But unfortunately I have to agree with skymakai. In the past I was loading a track and was thinking, I had cue points setup for this track, but they are gone, strange: Probably never set the cue points. But after reading the posts from Mixmaster G, the ghost files thread and other posts that seem related, I have to conclude that I had these problems as well and still have. I will keep an eye on the other comments and hopefully some fixes.

Filter are a major,part of my work.flow. It would be great if they didn’t reset when using one library. Such a pain to remember every time

I use it 7 nights a week, im full time club/festival DJ, multiple venue with multiple setup (Turntable, CDJ, All i One) with no issue, its reliable i think it does clasify them as pro

Really interesting topic and is sth that most of us thinking some times or have at least thought for a period in our lives. But at the end of the day why should we care about what others think about our choice of software or our gear? On my opinion those labels are marketing labels for companies to sell their products. There are differences between softwares and gears, and differences in the sound not only in capabilities. But using that specific software and this specific gear that in my ears sounds great and the software suits me makes it better or more proffesional than your choice? This is not me judging, it’s just my personal thoughts thinking loudly. Ok propably the gear is not the appropriate example cause yeah there are big differences but the software? After years of being a sound engineer and working with nuendo i don’t consider it to be the best software, just the software i’m used to and from the start it was closer to my way of thinking. It doesn’t make it better from other production software. When i switched to digital djing with final scratch and stayed with serato for so many years, i recently changed to djay pro. It was just a need, it doesn’t mean serato is better than djay pro and the opposite.It suits me better in a specific time. The fuct that people consider sometimes specific brands as more proffesional most of the times is a matter of branding and it doesn’t have to do with the user. Branding brings sales. What suits you and you feel more comfortable is your choice and not the trend around sth. Not to be misunderstood as i said before i don’t judge anything this is just me talking out loud. @mrsoundproof I agree, with you. Most of th thread is not about comparing Djay Pro to other software or the other way around, but about Djay itself.
From my perspective: I re started Dj ing in the start of this year, after buying an XDJ-Az. I still had a large wav song collection ripped from my own cds. After trying lots of different software and workflows my conclusion is: The workflow for song library management, is hard, in efficient and takes very much time. Especially when you have a large collection. Non of the Dj software has a proper Library management, therefore you see also other threads when users use tools like Lexicon, Dj Conversion utilities or develop there own tools like this. Around all these tools there are workarounds like ‘remove the beat grids before exporting‘ etc.
When I read the topics in this forum, there are good ideas which could improve the Djay library management a lot. When the team also implement features other dj apps and library management apps have and combine it all, then they could attract a lot of users, while I hear lots of complaints here, but also other forums. When we could do all our library management in Djay that would save every dj lots of time
