Agreed 1000%. Every time I have to do the big “sync dance” using Lexicon, Rekordbox and Djay Pro, I’m thinking “this should not be this hard” 
Miss the simpler days when I just used iTunes for my music management, and imported it from there to all my DJ sw (Traktor and Rekordbox for USBs)

Ok interesting! I was working from the assumption that itunes was replaced by Apple Music for the current MacOS’es?
iTunes app was renamed to ‘Music’, but it’s the same thing. You don’t have to be using the Apple Music service.

The Music app is fine for library and playlist management, just stay away from that “sync library” checkbox in the settings.

Like always, it depends. I also like to use Itunes / Music app for music and playlist management. It is compatible with lots of other applications and could be automated using Apple script. I can’t get used to Recordbox, so I like to use Djay for the beatgrid. I have an xdj-az, so to create a usb, I need to export to One library and here comes the issue. You can’t export from itunes to One library in Djay. You could only do that from ‘My collection‘. So I have to get all my playlists from Itunes to My collection and then export. From my point of view this is just unneeded actions with lots of possible errors along the way. When I was creating this post, I thought of a ‘Sync playlist to my collection‘ feature. Will post that in the suggestions area

I made the mistake of experimenting with that option a few months ago and it has really wrecked my library. I have a lot of Apple devices and I thought it would make things easier if they were all synced. This week I’ll be turning that feature off and attempting to fix the damage it caused to my library.

Can even sync just by opening the Mac wirelessly
And it’s super fast , it only syncs what’s new or have been changed. Djay even responses quickly while it’s open. It’ll just force refresh the list.

Djay will have historical backups of your library on your device. You can copy that file and move it to where the current library file is located.
If you’re on a Mac..
Music > djay > Backups > [select an old folder] > djay Music Library

Hi, I think @LogisticalStyles means that his itunes library and the files in it was destroyed. When you switch sync on, or leave it on, while on is the default, Apple uploads all your local music to the cloud. To save space on their backends they replace your files with files they already have. But this matching is really poor, so if you have a special mix or version that could be replaced by a standard version from Apple. Sometimes it is also replaced by a file with far less quality.
I have a backup of my collection on my Nas, I had this switch on once as well. I luckily could start over using my backup. Hope LogisticalStyles has a backup of his files as well
Yes, those are some of the issues I’ve been dealing with along with others. Ever since I turned on Sync Library I have had issues with songs greyed out in local playlist. I think that the combination of having Sync Library turned on and using Apple Music (the streaming service) playlists has caused my library to be messed up. Prior to that I just connected my devices to my Mac mini which is my main music library in order to sync up the music and playlists that I manually created on the Mac mini. My local music on my ipad and iphone always matched my Mac mini after using the cable to sync.
After turning on Sync library it looks like the streaming service playlists and my local music library got combined. At this point I’m ready to stop using Apple Music for streaming and going back to using Tidal for streaming. It was so much simpler before I started using all of Apple’s features.

I actually said no To sync my library. So I do not have those problems because of it.
