Yes it is a real shame, i hoped they would fix everything with ios7 but this problem has made me think about going that same route, selling and possibly buying pioneer or another brand. There’s no way it can be used out gigging with this issue. Hopefully algoriddim or numark will change my mind by finding a fix ASAP.
I’m wondering if the problem is related to a memory read/write error. Whenever this issue occurs I open a system utility diag app which shows how much CPU memory etc is being used, and then problem fixes itself immediately. Btw the problem only seems to happen when I’ve had lots of programs running and obviously using up a lot of ram.
It hasn’t failed so far, when I completely shutdown and restart then open djay straight away.
Djay2 latest update, iOS 7
I mean the left and right channels switch back to thier corresponding sides and the volume reduces to the correct level. I don’t do anything except open the system util app. It might be that in opening it does a quick diag. and gets fixed. Noticed you use an ipad air which I think works slightly different in when the fault occurs. I use ipad 3.
What is the memory and storage size in your ipad air?
If as you say the air does not cause a problem, which I’m hoping is the case, then I think I’ll be putting my ipad 3 on ebay and I’ll be of to the shops for a late Xmas pressie. It would be good to know the outcome of any further gigs using the ipad air. Good luck for tonite.
I’ve just come across something interesting that has happened today, which I think may lead some way in figuring out this problem.
After closing all background apps and charging to 85% , I connected my ipad3 to the iDJ pro but did not start the djay app! I didn’t fancy playing anything just yet, so I opened ikaossilator! which is a music production app. Only the main volume on the iDJ pro is able to work as no other midi messages are sent from this app. After less than 5 mins the channel swapping problem appeared. Exactly the same affect as with djay2. Except djay2 was never started and was not running in the background. I think it looks like we can rule djay2 out of the equation and look into the fault lying with the ipad and/or the iDJ pro. Please guys, speed up on the fix, there are some of us still hanging on, but it won’t be long before we lose all faith if you don’t get it sorted soon.
I know that sounds abit contrary, considering I just inferred that djay2 was not the problem. However, if the problem is with the iDJ pro, people are not going to want to use your product, so obviously it’s in your interest to find a fix for it whether its via numark, Apple, algoriddim or a combination between all 3. So the last part of my previous comment wasn’t just directed to algoriddim but all 3 companies! Sorry, showing my frustration now, but you get the picture.
I continue to monitor this and similar threads hoping for solutions so I can finally upgrade my iPad 2 to iOS 7. I don’t have the dough for a new iPad Air 'cause I’m saving for a Pioneer DDJ-SX.
That important detail Len mentioned of the issue not showing up when using XLR is very interesting. I always use XLR with so maybe this is why I have never experience the issue with either DJay 1 or 2 on iOS 6.
As I have suggested a long while ago here and on Numark’s forum, and as confirmed more recently by a representative from one of these companies in some forum, the root of the problems is with some changes Apple made to core-level iOS functions\APIs such as CoreAudio and\or AVFountation.
If that is indeed the case, this could explain why the issues linger and haven’t been fully resolved. They may require changing some core code on DJay and on the iDJ Pro firmware since I doubt Apple will easily make changes to its iOS APIs.
By the way, I might have read somewhere that DJ Player uses its own sound engine so maybe that’s why it doesn’t seem to suffer from the same issues.
It would be really great if more people who have installed the latest version of DJay 2 and the new firmware for the iDJ Pro would report the results of running them under iOS 7. I’m still running iOS 6 for this reason only.
When doing so, please report which iPad generation you have and with how much storage memory. Mine is an iPad 2 with 32 GB.
Thanks in advance.
Many thanks to all the guys who are posting reports on using the latest DJay 2 update and iDJ Pro firmware update. I would love to see at least one report from someone that’s using an iPad 2 since that’s what I have and will continue to use until at least the summer.
Now, to address the sync issue someone reported. I have never encountered this issue using DJay 2 and as someone who quite often plays house mixes that can run for 16 or even 32 bars I imagine that I would have noticed it.
On the other hand, Warren, what is “perfect sync” in DJay? I’m familiar with this distinction in Serato but not DJay.
Thanks again to the folks at Algoriddim and Numark for what seems to be finally resolving the issues with iOS 7.
Now if only you could give us more than 4 cue points . . .
Brandon, sorry that this is off topic, but I would love to see you posting somewhere else something about your experience doing a 60th birthday party. I recently did one and I’m already booked for another in December. I play a lot for the post–40 crowd, so I’m always curious.
I support your request, Mauricio. I was actually going to finally upgrade to iOS 7 today or tomorrow but now I want to wait first for other user’s reports.
Thanks for posting this.
I have the same problem. I use an iPad 3 with djay2 and iOS 7.
I have been using the pop up library.
So Warren, any updates with this problem? What are you guys doing to fix it?, It has been over a month.
Last couple times I played music, worked fine, all I had to do was NOT TOUCHING the crossfader and just use the volume knobs to control the music, however is not as “gentle” as the crossfader. (iPad 3 / djay2 / iOS 7 )
Hey guys, check out this post on the Numark’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb…
It basically says that the Numark iDJ Pro was featured in Stuff Magazine UK’s Stuff Gadget Awards 2013: The 7 best tech accessories of the year.
You should go in there and leave your thoughts, because they keep advertising this product.
Hey guys, I really need your help. It seems like Numark has no idea of what’s happening, or at least that’s how it looks like. Please go on the Facebook page and write down your concerns with this problem. Here’s the link

Hey guys, I just notice that there’s a new update today for iDJ2 in the App Store. Let’s hope, keep your fingers crossed.
