DVS doesn’t work after macOS update

  • Device model : Macbook Air M3 2025
  • Version of operating system : Mac OS Tahoe 26.2
  • Version of djay : 5.6.1
  • Hardware/controllers used : Pioneer DJM A9
  • Hardware firmware version : 1.12
  • Please consider sharing a short video or screenshots to help clarify your issue

Hey Guys , after i update my mac os, sometimes the dvs doesnt work, happened to me twice already, the dvs option is there but absolutely no signal input, i use a serato timecode wav from a cdj 30000, i tried pluggin and unplugging, running the DJM A9 Utility, still doesnt work

but sometimes it works with no issue at all

With Serato you have to allow mic access, perhaps something the same with Djay?

already allowed

Hi @echa0361, I’m not sure what to suggest here other than a fresh djay installation.

I recommend that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay from the official App Store. You can find the files above in the following location on macOS: How to find your djay data and move it to a new device | Algoriddim Support

Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

Thanks soak, ill try it now for tonight and will let you know

You’re welcome @echa0361. Sounds good.

It works, thanks

So this made me think, if i have macbook pro and a mac mini, i set the username as the same, sync the collection on google drive, use symbolic link for the metadata files and djay folder in music folder

In theory i should be able to sync collection, cue points, loops between macbook and mac mini ?

So i use mac mini at home, macbook at the club?

You’re welcome @echa0361, in theory that could work. Personally, I just manually copy the djayMediaLibrary database from one device to the other. Just keep in mind that this database only includes metadata - it does not include any of your local music files. If you are only using streaming services, then this is the only thing you need to copy over. However, if you have local music files, you will need to copy those as well.

hi slak

it happened again, but this time I think I found the bug

so last week, it started happening again, dvs doesn’t work, I have to resort to HID (which is still drifting on 3000s)

for context, I play multiple clubs, and 2 of them has DJM A9 and 1 DJM 900 nexus 2 , this issue happen to both type of mixer

then I get a chance to play opening set, I came early to figure out what it is, and then I tried opening up the DJM A Settings Utility from Pioneer, it says there that timecode input is line (there is 3 option, Phono, Line and Digital)

but dvs still doesn’t work, then I tried to change everything to DIGITAL (the cdjs are connected both in digital and rca input , still doesn’t work, I switch it back to LINE , and NOW IT WORKS

I thought, maybe that’s the issue, so the next day it happened again, then I do it again, open DJM A9 Settings Utility, switch to DIGITAL, close it, Open Again, Switch to Line then it work

same thing happen with DJM 900 Nexus 2, only I use DJM 900 Settings utility

I tried with rekordbox DVS, no issue, plug and play with line in, with timecode wav from cdj, so I’m guessing the issue is not HARDWARE, but the software itself

and mind you this issue started AFTER I update my MacOS to 26.2 , before the update is plug and play

my Guess is Djay, every time its plugged in, automatically expect PHONO input for DVS

hope this help and can be fixed for the next update, and hopefully soon, I work 5 nights a week, and its getting annoying not be able to plug and play LOL

Try this.

Open the djay app and turn dvs off then quit the app. Reopen then select the dvs option and see if that works.

Thanks for the detailed info @echa0361, I’ll share this with our hardware engineering team to see if they have any suggestions.

hi, tried that, did not work

Thanks for the suggestion @Wyley

hi slak, I think in future updates djay should have an option to select dvs input as line in instead of phono, I know dvs is meant for vinyl but truth is most clubs have cdjs installed, and not every club will provide turntables

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll pass this on…

I spoke with engineering regarding this, the line/phono setting is a physical switch in the mixer, and only very few of them have a pathway for djay to digitally flip that switch.

Aah yes, thats okay, hopefully with the updates atleast djay will correctly choose the input that the mixer is set to via their native software (Pioneer Mixers)

Because both Rekordbox and Serato does, even Djay before the mac OS update does, its so frustating, i wish i never update the OS LOL

issue still here in 5.6.2 djay keep going to phono even with the channel select for input is line on DJM, does not happen with other software

Thanks for the update @echa0361

i found a solution, ive tried this at 3 clubs and 2 DJM A9 and 1 DJM 900 nexus 2 and it works, and i think should be put as a reminder for future djay users for mac if they use CDJs as timecode

so the DJM Utility app need to run BEFORE we open djay on mac, so OPEN the DJM Utility, plug in the mixer, then open Djay, works every time, goes straight into line in

so my solution is just putting the DJM Utility app on start at login, simple as that

so i can say this problem is solved
