I’d like to try spinning on a CDJ-3000 setup one of my friends has. I’m using the latest version of Djay Pro AI on an iPad Air 3rd Gen with a DDJ-400. Given the CDJ-3000 is a native Rekordbox controller there needs to be some sort of conversion (something like MIXO or DJCU?) which starts with exporting a playlist to a csv file.
This is perhaps a bit off topic. I see you’re using a iPad, but if you also have a Mac laptop, you can connect to the CDJs and use them to control djay running on your Mac.
No unfortunately I don’t use a Mac so was wondering whether this path is possible from the iPad. The idea is to have a USB I plug into the CDJ and have the playlist and the hot cues
I don’t think there’s a way to do this directly from iPad. The 3rd party applications for converting DJ libraries need to be run on a computer. Given that you only need a single playlist, it’s probably easier just to copy the music files onto a USB drive and rebuild the playlist from scratch.
Ok, I’ll do so but just to confirm (as I haven’t seen this) is it possible to create a .csv extract of a playlist and hot cues from Djay Pro on the iPad?
Ok so there’s no way to export the hot cues or saved loops because that’s where the real value (and prep) is or is this only available on the Windows or Mac version?
That’s where the 3rd party software like Lexicon, MIXO or DJCU comes in. Every DJ software uses a unique database. The softwares above convert the databases between different DJ softwares into a format that readable. These databases contain your saved hot cues, saved loops and playlists.
You can transfer this data between iOS and macOS devices using the djay Media Library database file. However, this data is only readable by djay. So, you can for example copy all of your My Collection playlists and saved Hot Cue from your iPhone to your iPad or from your iPad to your Mac and use it on another installation of djay.
There is no built-in tool within djay to export your playlists and saved Hot Cues to Rekordbox or any other DJ software.
