FX Wet signal in Headphones

Can we have an option to pre-listen the Wet output (Post FX) of the deck channel in the Headphones/CUE? The respective FX engines are deck-bound, so there should be no routing complexity. Filters and EQ are audible in the CUE, but not the FX and I’m missing it at times.

With the Neural Mix way of things, It would be valuable to prepare a NM band/channel with FX & tweaks in the headphones, before bringing it live to the mix.

Another use case is to capture the wet signal for Sampling, as described in Samples management improvements

I was thinking if it makes sense for this mode to be configurable, and maybe it does.
We currently hear the post EQ&Filtered stream in the Headphones. The FX Wet is also welcome, as it gives the DJ the ability to CUE the complete signal which will come out of the deck channel with the FX when they are ON. Alternatively, we can get a separate, MIDI mappable DRY Cue, which excludes EQs, Filter & FX, which will allow us to pre-listen the pure Pre-EQ signal in the HP, and bring it EQed/Filtered in the Mix, like the standalone mixers behave. But rather than a global setting for Wet/Dry Cue, it might be useful to have a separate “Dry CUE” Midi action, which we can choose and e.g. Map it with a SHIFT+Cue action on the controllers.

Either way, I think that enabling the FX Wet in the CUE by default will be super useful and of higher priority, while a Dry CUE option is a just a “nice to have”/low priority request IMO. People are apparently used to CUE the post EQ signal and that’s fine for me too. It’s for the PMs to decide how comprehensive they want to make it. I just wish we just have the FX Wet in the CUE bus, and soon if possible. It would be very useful for Neural Mix creativity to setup & test the FX processing before bringing it live in the mix.

Hi @Kaloyan, FX are audible in the headphones as long as they are set to Pre-Fader in Settings>Sound>FX Routing. Note that NeuralMix FX are always rendered before the line fader so they are always audible in the headphone CUE. To explain why this is the case, let’s look at the signal chain:

Playback NeuralMix™-FX EQ/Filter Pre FX (CUE) Fader Post FX

It is not possible to make post-fader FX audible in the CUE bus without taping the signal path after the line fader, which defeats the purpose of the CUE bus.

Great input! Thanks, @Slak_Jaw !

And thanks for describing the signal flow! True, the FX are audible with this setting.

yes that works perfect! Given that I have Dry/Wet control at my fingertips, Pre-Fader mode is just perfect!
