Hercules DJControl Mix Ultra

The controller looks gigantic in the photos; when in fact, it is going to be smaller than the FLX2. Talk about burying the lead!

48x27 cm / FLX4
38×21 cm / FLX2
32x17 cm / DJControl MIx Ultra

Interestingly, the original was a little wider.
34x10 cm / DJControl Mix Original

BIG MISSED OPPORTUNITY:
Hercules should have developed a matching compact 4-channel audio card.

  • Something that could fit in your jeans pocket.
  • With controls for volume, headphone and cueing.
  • 1/4" line outs
  • and charging for mobile devices

They keep talking about all these futuristic ideas, but honestly that would be a game changer for mobile DJing.

I’m planning on getting this as it will be perfect to keep in my backpack and on the go. I’ve only seen videos using an iPhone and iOS, but this will work with Djay Pro on Mac OS correct? I had an update come through on my Mac today but just wanted to confirm before I purchase.

macOS djay 5.2.8 highlighted it in the notes:

  • Seamless integration with the all-new Hercules DJControl Mix Ultra controller

But, on the other hand, the Hercules website does not mention macOS or laptops at all, they mainly highlight that it’s designed for phones/tablets.

Yes - confusing! Hopefully they provide some clarity on this.

I like how the cover doubles as a phone/tablet stand. One of those small things that make it “portable”. I hope Decksaver copies the idea for their products.

Yea I like that too, def will make me feel ok about putting it in my backpack. Looks like the stand only holds up a phone, tablets won’t stand (in the few reviews I’ve seen)

Yes, I saw that too. The engineer in me immediately said “challenge accepted”

This controller is starting to grow on me. I really like the portability. Just gotta solve the audio interface issue (no cable splitters).

  • The (relatively) long tempo faders are cool.
  • Another plus, gain can be adjusted using SHIFT + High EQ knob
  • Wish it had a cue mix volume knob - maybe there’s a solution on an audio interface

The inevitable comparison (videos below).

  • Wondering if Hercules follows with a Starlight Ultra!
  • Hoping Reloop adds a Ready/Buddy Pro to the line up. :grinning:

Looks like a cool little controller. I’ll probable pick one up for one the settee prepping :sunglasses:. I’m adding all my music to Apple Music as well so any playlists that are created will then show on all devices.

I like what he said about making components easy to replace, including the battery! I still think it needs a matching audio interface with cue mix knobs etc.; but it’s looking pretty legendary as is.
