Hercules T7 - Stems have delay when activating and deactivating

My stems are not activating instantly, there’s a slight delay, like .25 seconds, before the stem activates or deactivates. I’m on MacOS with an M1 Macbook Pro, and using a Hercules T7.

Quantize is off.

This also only happens with the Hercules connected. With just my Macbook alone not connecting to any controller, the stems activate instantly.

Anyone else experienced this or know a fix?

On Sequoia 15.1.1
DJay Pro 5.3.1

Thanks!

Has this always been the case or did it only occur after the last update? And do you simply mean a delay between pressing the button and realization or a delay or echo effect?
When using Neural Mix for the first time immediately after loading the track, the entire track is analyzed with regard to the different stems. This requires more computing power, which can also be noticeable in a delay, regardless of whether it is activated via the controller or directly with the MacBook. If Neural Mix is then activated a second time, this is implemented instantly.
The second would probably be due to the newly introduced Mute FX, which can also be deactivated in the Neural Mix Panel.

Hi @djmikelujan, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. There are a few things you can try.

  1. Turn Keylock OFF
  2. Switch to the Neural Mix Tracks multiple waveform display. This will force djay to perform the Neural Mix separation analysis and calculations when the song is loaded rather than in real-time when you perform a NM action.

Can you please also try to capture a short video of the issue and upload it here? I’d like to pass this onto engineering to see if there is something specifically related to the T7 being connected. Thanks!

Hi @Slak_Jaw , thanks for the reply! Here’s a video of what i mean.

In that video, it shows that the stems have a very slight delay when keylock is on, like a .25 second delay. It’s hard to notice in the video, but when mixing, the delay makes a big impact. I also show in the video that having the multi-waveform does not make a difference.

The new mute effects are also not active, and quantize is not active.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info from me. If the issue is keylock, I hope there will be an update in the new future that fixes this, as I would like have both keylock and instant stem activation.

Thank you!

EDIT: one more thing I just found out, the BEAT JUMP/SKIP function also has this same delay when keylock is activated. With keylock on, beatjump has a slight delay, but with keylock off, beatjump is instant. Almost like it’s being quantized.

Thanks for the additional info and video @djmikelujan.

Please follow the procedure below:

  1. Quit djay.
  2. Make sure you have a backup of your djay Media Library.djayMediaLibrary file on an external drive or cloud service.
    a. You can find the files above in the following location: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014912211-Where-does-djay-Pro-store-playlists-cue-points-and-other-data-on-my-Mac
  3. If you have previously disabled iCloud for djay Pro in System settings, please make sure it is re-enabled for djay Pro.
  4. Open the app Terminal.app
  5. Run this command: defaults write com.algoriddim.djay-iphone-free CMCResetCloudKitState -bool true
  6. Launch djay.
This will reset the CloudKit and clear up any performance issues related to iCloud sync.

@Slak_Jaw thank you for the reply. I tried your steps and it looks like nothing has changed. Stem activation and deactivation is still delayed when keylock is on when using the Hercules T7

Okay thanks for the update @djmikelujan. Can you please try turning Bluetooth Off on your Mac?
