Hot Cues changing location slightly

MacBook Pro M4, MacOS Sequoia 15.4.1, Djay Pro 5.3, Rane Performer

In my local mp3 files my cue points are slightly moved from day to day, sometimes I set cue points one day and the day after they are all one bar away from the grid. Not in all songs.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @DjLemart, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue.

  1. Are the files stored on your internal Mac drive or an external drive?
  2. Do you have any duplicates of these local files in your local library (perhaps in different file formats like mp3, wav, flac)?
  3. Are you using any streaming services like Apple Music in conjunction with these local mp3’s?
  4. Can you please upload a couple of the songs that you’re experiencing this issue with to your Google Drive/Drop Box, enable sharing permissions, and share a link to the files in a DM to me?

Thanks!

    Local files in internal SSD

  2. Do you have any duplicates of these local files in your local library (perhaps in different file formats like mp3, wav, flac)?
Yes… I’ve realised that I have in my iTunes Folder and in a dedicated folder.

  3. Are you using any streaming services like Apple Music in conjunction with these local mp3’s?
Sure, local files, Apple Music, Soundcloud and Beatport.

  4. Can you please upload a couple of the songs that you’re experiencing this issue with to your Google Drive/Drop Box, enable sharing permissions, and share a link to the files in a DM to me?
I will forward that to you ASAP.

Thanks again, so far I love Djay Pro and the only reason I keep using Serato Pro (sometimes) is to see the Album Art in the screens of my Rane Performer

Thanks for the additional info and files. I’ve passed this onto engineering to see if they can replicate the issue and suggest anything.

Same issue….. my cue points has never stayed at the point I left them. And that on most track stored on my device or in the streaming

Hi guys. There is an issue with cue points moving slightly if you use tracks from streaming services. It only happens when you change the streaming quality. I noticed this when using Tidal when changing from max to low for an event with poor WiFi. I know your issues are with local files so can’t comment on that sorry.

Thanks for the additional feedback @Five-0 and @SamJam

Hi again @DjLemart and @Five-0, can you please disable WiFi on your devices and try testing again? I’m wondering if you’re accidentally loading a streaming version of the same local song. Thanks!

I sometimes experience the same thing when loading a streamed version of a local track. It’s impossible for your collection to not get messy but forces you to find a system that works for you.

I don’t use streaming services (whatsoever) and I haven’t experienced anything on my Cues in my local files.
Conclusion: streaming services conflicting with local duplicates.
Djay pro uses digital audio footprint to identify tracks, so it doesn’t matter if the filenames are different - as long as the audio is the same it’s a duplicate

Hi, I have just tested it with no internet connection and the issue is still there… I am quite worried as it happens to most of my local files.

Hi @DjLemart, could you please share some screenshots of the different cue point positions? We’ve never heard of cue points moving by a whole bar. Typically just a few milliseconds due to different encodings.

Yes you’re right, it’s not a whole bar, is a small amount but when I’m quick mixing it’s quite annoying

Ps: the first image shows a wrong (upper) and a proper (lower) placement.

Thanks for the screenshots and the clarification @DjLemart

Hi @DjLemart, these don’t seem to be from the same song though, right? Could you please share screenshots of the whole window of both states (correct/incorrect cue points) of the same song?

Song with wrong cues… I don’t have the same song at the same time (correct and incorrect)… The right position would be right on the grid, which is not. Same song while zooming in:

Thanks for your support.

Hi @DjLemart, what we are trying to see is the same cue point of the same track at two different positions, because as-is we just see cue points that are slightly offset, but you say that cue points move day-by-day. So we’d like to confirm you are actually looking at the same cue point of the same track on different days. Thanks.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I set the cues in one song, the day after they “move”, I fix it and it stays fixed.

Thanks for clarifying @DjLemart. Are you able to reproduce that with a song you haven’t loaded before, and could you please capture screenshots of before/after? Thanks!

Hi @DjLemart, just following up on my question from a week ago.
