I want to connect my iPad to DJM-A9 via USB cable and play rekordbox or serato DVS signal on CDJ-3000 via USB memory and enable DVS with iPad.
DJM-A9 is class compliant, so it is recognized as Audio Interface on iPad, but DVS signal did not display and could not be calibrated.
Incidentally, DJM-A9 and CDJ-3000 had connected by line or digital cable.
Please tell me how to do calibration.
I believe both users in the linked topic below were able to get this type of setup working. Although with different mixers than yours.
Perhaps there’s an issue with how you are connecting to your iPad. Are you using a genuine Apple Camera Connection kit and is it connected to power using your original iPad charger and cable?
Are you running the latest firmwares on your mixer and CDJs?
The iPad mini6 and A9 are connected via a USB-C cable only.
Of course, there is no problem if you just use the A9 as an audio interface without using DVS with this connection method.
Hi @Akifumi_Konishi, thanks for the additional information and screenshots. This is very helpful. I’ve passed this onto engineering to see if they have any suggestions. In the meantime, have you tried using a different USB-C cable? Ideally a genuine Apple cable or a reputable brand high quality cable.
Hi @Akifumi_Konishi, I checked with our engineering team. They were able to get this to work with iOS, but unfortunately the behaviour is inconsistent. There seems to be a bug with the A9 mixer where it reverts back to Phono when you power it off then on again. Anyway, here is the process that worked for us:
Connect the A9 mixer to a Mac.
Download, install and launch the DJM A9 utility settings.
Set all channels to Line.
Connect the mixer to iPad.
Connect the CDJ via RCA cable by plugging it into the Line input of Channel 1.
Launch djay, calibrate needle on Deck 1.
Repeat for Deck 2.
Unfortunately, it seems you will need to repeat this entire process every time you turn the mixer off then on again as it will revert to Phono input. I hope that helps!
In other words, I understand that if I want to enable DVS on iPad and A9, I’ll always need a Mac.
I wanted to use DVS only with my iPad, but since I needed a Mac, I found that this connection method was completely pointless.
I wish there was DJM-A9 Utility Software for iPad.
Basically yes. Unless Pioneer changes the firmware so that the A9 doesn’t always revert to Phono when turned off. In that case, you would really only need to connect to a Mac with the Utility Software once to make the adjustment.
