Sure you need a wireless router? iPad can communicate with the laptop directly, without the need for a separate Wifi network.
When reading through this thread, I see that a lot of people are describing how other music playing apps can access wireless external drives, while Djay2 canāt. Seems like the *perfect* feature request if thatās true. Are you guys working on this?
I didnāt even know wireless HDs existed that the iPad can access. Going to research that now. Seems super useful, *especially* for a DJ app.

From the discussion at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/ā¦ it looks like the iPad would only be able to _read_ from the external drive and not _write_ to it. How does that impact the possibility of Djay incorporating that as a feature? Any data written by DJay (BMP info, key info, cue points, etc) are all done on the iPad itself anyway, right?
Erik
Any āsolutionā that involves the need to jailbreak an iOS device, will never be considered a proper solution ā at least not from the official companyās perspective, Iām sure.
For me, jailbreaking is a deal breaker. I will never do it.
This is the best solution at the moment, I think.
I agree with you Hillary. I donāt care for Spotify myself for all those reasons (although I didnāt know about #1, and thatās bad if thatās true).
I think Algoriddim added Spotify to please the home users that do care about Spotify and perhaps even use that as their primary music source. Iām not one of those people, so I just hope that Algoriddim will still look into supporting Wifi drives as well.
That sounds good. Donāt change a working solution! (Unless you really have to.)
You can get the wifi sandisk flash drives now. Works with the ipadā¦
I just bought the Seagate Wireless Plus drive and have successfully imported a song from the Seagate drive into DJay 2. Itās not a direct process. You have to leave DJay playing and use Seagateās app to import the file from the drive to the IPad then you again use the app to load the song into DJay.
I have recently come across this thumb drive with a USB connector on one end and a lightning connector on the other.

It would be great if Djay could directly access the files on a device like this.
Erik van, Implant search for mp3 file ā¦ in Djay Application to seek in any folders on Ipad and through such resources can play our songs that are on usb hdd ā¦ Many Djs are needing and choosing to do other softs major events.

Integration with folder, usb pendriver and hdd !!!.
We need besides Itunes and Spotify can seek inside the music folders Ipad. Integrate reading files audio and video in external hardware as: pendriver usb and hard drive. This function is missing so the soft might evolve in the ways of the great DJs
I think it does download the files though
the cross fader is the key, i guess

Hey Guys & Gals, When are we going to be able to integrate a Wireless Hard drive thru a ipad and have the Djay2 software Reconize it and then we can use the extra storage when using the iPad Through the Numark iDj Pro. at the moment the Djay 2 only Reconizes the song library on the iPad,ITunes, and Spotify.
my iPad is Only a 64 Gb Storage, My Wireless Hardrive is 2 TBāS.
cheers, Benji
The problem I find is that Djay2 only gives the option to stream music from Spotify and iTunes/cloud to iPad! Unfortunately there is no option to stream music from my existing iTunes library to the iPad! If I want to play a song on my iPad it has to be downloaded in order to do so!.. iPad does not have space to make this practical !!! So in order to use DJay2 properly we have to open a spotify account, which is absolutely ridiculous if we already have an iTunes library full of songs!!! I will not be opening a spotify account in order to play songs I already have in my iTunes library!!!
I think the company is already losing ground to competitors who have already entered this kind of reading for iOS. Android is already possible to do this kind of local read.
Why on earth they replaced the BRILLIANT iDJ2 with ātoyā (ironically named the āproā) is beyond me. Do all you iDJ Pro owners know about the iDJ2? OK, the jog wheels are not proper touch sensitive ones but lets face it, nobody is doing any scratching on a glorified iPad docking station!
I use a macbook running Traktor with a Kontrol S2. However I will NEVER fully trust a laptop, not even a macbook so I use the iDJ2 as a mixer with a 320gb hard drive plugged in. If my laptop goes down I just hit play on the iDJ2 and carry onā¦ Well I would be able to if it ever happens which it hopefully will not. My point is that the iDJ2 was āalmostā professional kit, other than it being slightly plasticy. With a keyboard plugged in and a decent sized hard drive I could quite easily leave the laptop at home and still do a good job.
If people are complaining about lack of storage space on an iPad, you bought the wrong bit of kit. Flog it and find a iDJ2 on ebay!
