iPhone 15
Djay pro 5.2.1
Windows 10
iPad 12.9 3rd gen
Hey @Slak_Jaw bit of a mess, but can I transfer my djay pro playlists from iPhone 15 pro to pc, and then pc to iPad 12.9 3rd gen?

Hi @djqueenvic, it’s easier to go direct from iPhone to iPad by simply copying the djay Media Library database using the Files App. I have had mixed results when trying to use the same database on Windows as the file name and extension are different. So I wouldn’t recommend this.

Hi @Slak_Jaw i tried iPhone to iPad, but it didn’t work.

Could you maybe bullet point each step @Slak_Jaw

Have just tried an air drop but comes up with error Could not be completed ossstatus error 2003334207 @Slak_Jaw

Hi @djqueenvic, first of all, please note that this is not an officially supported workflow by Algoriddim. This is just what I personally use. So please proceed at your own risk.

Make sure you close djay on both devices first.

  1. I make regular backups of my Master djay Media Library database to an external drive and to my iCloud drive. This way if I make a mistake or something happens to my device, I can still recover my database.
  2. I also use the Files App and make a Master djay Media Library folder on my iCloud Drive.
  3. Let’s assume that your iPhone has the most up to date Master djay Media Library.
  4. Within the Files App, navigate to On My iPhone>djay>User Data.
  5. Press the 3 blue dots at the top right of the screen, , choose the Select option in the menu and select the djay Media Library file.
  6. At the bottom of the page select the Folder Icon to Copy the database to the iCloud Drive folder you created in Step 2. If prompted, select the Replace option to overwrite the older database in iCloud. This ensures that the file name stays exactly the same.
  7. Next, open the Files App on your iPad and navigate to the Master djay Media Library folder on your iCloud Drive.
  8. Now use the blue Select command near the top right of the page to select your Master djay Media Library file and choose the blue Move command at the bottom of the page.
  9. In the next window, select On My iPad>djay>User Data then press the blue Copy button at the top right.
  10. When prompted, again choose Replace to overwrite your old database with the new one. It’s important to use the replace option so that the database file name remains exactly the same as this is what djay will be looking for.

I hope that helps!

Hey @Slak_Jaw unfortunately at the last hurdle it didn’t work. Think I’m going to have to start making playlists in iTunes instead. At least that way any device connected to my account can have the same playlists.

Hi @djqueenvic, do you have a Beta version of djay running on your device via TestFlight?

Not sure what TestFlight is @Slak_Jaw

@djqueenvic if you don’t know what the TestFlight App is, then you are likely not beta testing. I’m not sure what else to suggest to you. I’ve been using the process as described above with no issues for many years now.

How do I transfer my library (cue points, Tidal track information e.g. BPMs etc.) from Mac (DJ Pro 2) to Windows DJ Pro? Please help!

Hi @rikarora, I’ve merged your new topic with this existing one. Please see above and let me know if that helps. Thanks!

NOTE: Please use the search function above before posting to avoid creating duplicate topics.

  • Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen):
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1):
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2):
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro):

Your question:

Hi

I generally use the software on my desktop PC running Windows, but have also just installed it on my laptop, also Windows
I’m using the same Pro log in, I also access the software through iOS

I’ve made a small playlist on my desktop PC and added a couple of cue points to tracks to see if they transfer to the other Windows device, via my laptop but despite being on the same platform (Windows) it doesn’t seem to transfer the cue points or playlist over to my laptop device, is this normal?

I get Windows to iOS maybe an issue but would think Windows to Windows on the same log in it would transfer to both devices?

Cheers

Cuzer

Hi @Cuzer, please use search before creating new topics. I’ve merged your with this existing topic. If you create your playlists in the My Collection source in djay, then you can manually copy the djay Media Library database from one Windows device to another. This database is located in %HOMEPATH%\Music\djay

Before doing this, I highly recommend that you make a backup of your Master djay Media Library database on an external drive or cloud service. Please note that the file name for this database on iOS and macOS is different than on Windows so this doesn’t really work from Windows to iOS.

Please also read above for more info:

I hope that helps!

A lot of reading here, thanks @Slak_Jaw

Sorry, I did search but came up with different results to the above

Does this transfer playlists and cue points or just playlists?

Thanks as always

Cuzer

You’re welcome @Cuzer. As outlined in the info above, the djay Media Library database contains playlists, history, queue, as well as all per-song metadata like cue points and loop regions.
