I’ve been sticking my head in the sand about Rekordbox, mainly because I’m not a fan of AlphaTheta, even more troubling with their acquisition of Serato.
Yep this is a real shame. I’ve had to switch back to Rekordbox and a laptop for now
Really all I need is star ratings in the browser and the ability to edit them, it’s not rocket science.
@jomtones After 2months using the Pro version I must agree sadly: all these blabla around Neural Mix is worthless, if I can’t set it up for professional use. The library management sucks. How many times did I loose my cue points, my information. I really don’t want to test if I am saving on a USB stick going to Club and no Cue points are there because they are stored on my Mac
I am researching since 2 months and far less information out there.
I only use ios for listening to my music and not to dj. I throw of the automix with matchning songs to discover new music. That said, having the ability to manage the ID3 tags, specifically comments, ratings, and genre while I’m adding the music to my playlists will help me manage my library on the go without being in front of my laptop. This should be available for local files and streaming services like Apple Music and Beatport.
I too would love to see a comment field on IOS. I am mixing my own productions and this would allow me to put some notes about each song in the app rather than writing the details down elsewhere. Gratitude for the app and for receiving input
Comments and energy level assignment for iOS next please algoriddim.
The app is amazing to use not just for playing around but for using professionally.
The fact that these are unavailable just seems odd when everything else is this good.
I fully agree. Tags and the ability to add comments / notes would be a game changer (on local songs as well as streaming). I currently use djay Pro on Windows.
I use the software to record mixes and when I’m doing an hour long set, it would be great to have notes on each song regarding cue points, transitions, FX, key, etc.
Thanks for taking our recommendations into consideration.
Any chance of adding a field for user track notes that would work across streaming tracks as well as MP3’s etc?
I don’t know about anyone else but I’m lost without the feature in terms of putting in mini descriptions of the track for my reference when playing
Thanks mate - sorry I was unable to find this thread when I checked.
I’ve realised I should have been clearer in my request - what I’m after is a “comments” field for Tidal tracks. Not sure if this is even technically possible but it would really help - I know you have this field for my iTunes tracks but I can’t see it for Tidal tracks
I came here looking for the exact same thing! I’m considering switching from a Serato-based workflow with local tracks organized in iTunes to a DJay-based one with streaming (downloaded to the locker, of course - I don’t trust wifi for a real gig). The only thing that’s holding me back is that I make extensive use of comments on the individual tracks to note things like vocal style, tone, general vibes, and so on. I get almost all my music from Beatport, so I signed up for a trial of their streaming service, and… it doesn’t seem like there’s any way to leave comments on a track. I can see all the comments on my iTunes tracks, but there just isn’t a comments column available for the Beatport tracks. Serato does let me leave comments on the streaming tracks from Beatport, though. Largely, I prefer DJay, but this is a must-have feature for me, so sadly I’m considering switching back to Serato - it’s either that or give up on streaming services, which I don’t want to do either. I’d love to see this feature make it into the product soon!
I’m using the Mac version, incidentally. I’d love to switch to iPad, but I use Phase, so I’ll have to wait until there’s Phase support on the IOS version.
I’m also very interested in updates on iOS comment implementation and the potential addition of tags. I’ve been a long-time djay user, but like many others, I’ve found myself relying more on Rekordbox recently due to its more robust library management features.
While I appreciate djay’s innovative features, I think prioritising core library management improvements like comments and tags would significantly enhance the user experience and make it a more competitive option for serious DJs. These “quality of life” features are essential for efficient workflow and organisation, and their absence is a real barrier for some users.
