Thanks for the additional input @Felix2. I’ll forward this to the devs.
Well said @Felix2!
I am still waiting for this too. I trust a lot on ‘Match’ and find it frustrating to see soo many mismatched tracks, while better ones are likely buried deeper in my collection that could make way better combinations. Also BPM sometimes differs to much in my opinion for making a smooth blend. So my own bpm restrictions would make this better.
Personally, I’d love Match as a filter option. Then I can implement it in certain playlists and select it alongside certain keys, certain years, certain BPMs, etc.
A friendly reminder to @Slak_Jaw that we’ve passed the two year mark since I started this popular thread. Hoping it has garnered enough attention to show up in a near-term update!
Thanks for the reminder again @djsteve. I have passed this onto the dev team again. In the meantime, please refer to the linked topic regarding how our suggestions and voting system works. Thanks again!
My biggest issue Coming from RB is that Match in Djay does not curate based on genre, playlist or learn from my playing history.
As a mobile DJ, my set can twist in many ways because of song requests so it will be SUPER USEFUL to be able to reference the Match tab when I am doom scrolling for a match (as that is the purpose). But I keep getting disappointed when the match feature seems to be constantly suggesting genre changes. Doing all the work as in the manual days would be fine if the software would at least, as smart as its purported to be, be learning from me - so I don’t have to stress every time.
I will suggest that the team take a look at BeaTunes, which has a solution that allows for setting match specifications or weights, and observe solutions from competitors like RB, and VDJ (which even suggests based on what other DJs play).
This will ultimately stop people like me from going back to our softwares of origin for such conveniences. I love DJay so really wish I don’t have to go in the interim. So I hope this is already in the pipeline.
You are so right, @Spinfox. I’m a mobile DJ myself and I completely feel your pain. The way Match currently works in djay often gives suggestions that are way off, since it always scans the entire library instead of focusing on specific genres or playlists that would actually make sense in the moment.
And you’re definitely not alone. Many users have been asking for improved Match functionality for years now. There’s even an ongoing thread where DJs have been requesting exactly this kind of smarter, more customizable matching.
So Algoriddim, please
let’s make this happen! It really shouldn’t be that hard, and plenty of concrete suggestions have already been made for how to take the first step toward improving this feature.
An upgrade to Match would make a huge difference. Not only for mobile DJs like us who rely on quick, relevant track suggestions under pressure, but for all DJs with broad music collections.
I’m a mobile DJ too and haven’t used the match feature yet but I can see how this could be a very useful tool. I agree with your comments and suggestions. Gonna have to delve into this feature a bit more cause there are times when brain-farts happen during on-the-fly set mixing and the mind goes blank, hence the match feature helping me out.
Hi @Spinfox, thanks for the feedback. I’ve merged your new topic with this existing one.
Yea this is the only thing Rekordbox did right ! It’s great for open format DJ’s . My only problem left with djay pro tbh ! @Spinfox
Was hoping this would be in the big update that just dropped that included FLX10 native screen support. The feature is essentially already there – just limit matching to selected playlist. I think i speak for most open format DJs that really just want to know what tracks are close in BPM (say +/- 10% AND with a compatible key). Djay already seems to do this, but for ALL songs in the collection. No one wants to mix dubstep to country. So limiting to current playlist allows us to get around this. this is the only thing keeping me in Rekordbox, which is slow and bloated. DJay is the future but this one feature needs to be added/fixed.
Thanks for the additional input @djchase
A feature that was great in VirtualDJ was that you could go one further and say “match from playlist” and limit results to “20 most played” rather than 20 randomers.
Thanks for the additional feedback @djandrewmarston
Hi Guys. Sometimes we add comments without actually VOTING UP an issue, which causes unpleasant delays. So REMEMBER to VOTE for the Match feature improvements !!! ![]()

Thank you for reminding everyone @Spinfox. This is a widely desired improvement that has been discussed for years, but the voting system is frustratingly the primary means for consideration of development. Votes either get scattered across multiple topics or are just forgotten to be made, an unfortunate added layer needed for user feedback.
As an example, the voting mechanism is at the top of the post, but this requires a lot of scrolling to get to (if you even know it exists) because latest posts are at the bottom and we are 62 posts into this conversation.
Hi @djsteve, if you click on the topic title in Discourse it will take you directly to the top of the page and eliminate the need for scrolling.
I appreciate this tip, but unfortunately it doesn’t improve the “discoverability” of the voting mechanism. I doubt that more than half of those who read and contribute to these forums are aware of the voting process, how to find the input, and the importance that has been placed on it for identifying desired features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
Voted. Must have feature.
Thanks for the feedback
