Instant Grid-Aligned Playback

3. Instant Grid-Aligned Playback on Play Button Press:

  • 3.1. Immediate Grid Start:
    • When the “Play” button is pressed for a deck, the track should begin playback instantly and perfectly aligned to the beat grid.
  • 3.2. No “Chasing” or Adjustment:
    • The playback should not require any further adjustment or beat-matching after pressing play.
    • It should start locked to the grid from the very beginning.

I don’t see how the two things would be possible at the same time (unless you have perfect timing, in which case no quantising should be necessary).

In other words, the playback would only be instant if you happened to press play exactly at the right time. If your timing is bad (so you need quantise) then the system would have to wait for the next correct grid marker before playing.

Traktor pro work like I’ve suggested.
Start linked to the grid, is not necessary any correction.

Thanks for the suggestion @Gianni_Notarnicola. Can you please try to capture a short video of how this works in Traktor Pro, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? This will really help to communicate your suggestion to the dev team. Thanks!

I agree with my colleague. It’s really annoying at some point the delay in playback and synchronisation. It would be cool to be instant like Traktor.

It would be great if they could do something about it.

You can see the vid?

Thanks for the video @Gianni_Notarnicola. This is very helpful. I will share this with the dev team.

Yes this. Locked sync at initial playback. I too desire to use djay in a similar fashion as traktor.

There is play in the tempo at first.

Also I do notice if you loop a track at the very beginning of a track the sync is a little off. I have to move the loop forward to gain locked sync.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks a lot, @Gianni_Notarnicola, for bringing this issue to attention.

It’s already been 5 months since I submitted this request, which looks a lot like yours:

Would you be able to read through it and see if we are both highlighting the exact same points? Do we have the same goals here? My main frustration is that not much has really improved in the software, especially regarding these specific issues.

Due to the low release and improvement rate from Algoriddim, it feels like we’re running in circles. Users keep writing and submitting similar improvement requests, but because of the slow release cycle, users become disengaged, and the requests fade away—only to be brought up again by another highly involved user. (In fact, I’m noticing more and more “need-to-haves” being recycled in this way.)

However, considering the number of votes on my request (18 votes) and yours (9 votes right now), it seems we’ve gained some involvement, which will hopefully lead to some priority for this development. Don’t you think?

Nest mount I move to traktor

You mean: Next Month you move to Traktor?

Yes, now Traktor Is more powerful than djay pro. Efx on stems and midi mapping with M condition

Alright, sounds good! The one thing I’m missing there is real-time stems—still the case, I assume?

Yes, it’s still like that, but you can analyze the tracks first, and then they’ll be managed smoothly.
