It would be good enough if you could open (browse) playlists in a new tab (view). This would mean that we have the ability to quickly switch between open tabs/playlists. In addition to the tabbed song browser, a new mouse right-click (or Ctrl/Cmd-click) option is needed on the playlist → Open in new Tab.
The proposal is to place a tab bar in the free space above the playlist column header according to the attached sketch.
Thanks for the additional input @ssokre
Sounds good to me, but Algo has to keep mobile and tablet navigation in the back of their mind too.
Anyways, pinned favorites have my vote too. Great idea.
Thanks for the vote @Mister_Tuur
A great idea for better and faster navigation through playlists, but it seems to me that it will be very difficult to implement on tablets and phones due to the lack of space. It would be great if they got it on macOS and Windows.
Hi @djaykay, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the feedback.
Now that there is a dedicated set of buttons on the new Rane System One, I feel like this is something that might see a little more traction. I think it’s a nice idea.
Upvote from me.
Thanks for the feedback @Archiesbald
YOUR SUGGESTION:
- Playlist “Bookmarks”: 4 or 5 buttons (along top of a window), within another tab in the "Match, Queue” collapsible browser panel on the right. These are just shortcuts to playlists. Make them key command mappable to select/(store if empty) and drop in. Make them Color select-able. Allow them to have text.
- Also In the "Match, Queue” collapsible browser panel on the right: Make these lists to allow sorting, just like the main playlists.
- Keep doing a great job because I love your software.
Cheers - Raphael
p.s. I hope this makes sense and is not dumb:)
Hi @Ralfi711, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve merged it with this existing as they seem closely related.
Hey team, it’s great to get to learn and understand your software. Let alone, it seems your team keeps an eye on feature requests and suggestions from the greater community.
I had a suggestion for a Heads-Up Display for Favorite Playlists:
- Is there a feature on the way for something like in Traktor? Is there a plan to bring your favorite playlist to the top of your Library? When using Traktor with live dj sets, I have grown accustomed to having my first choices at the top of the library if I want to go to separate playlists/crates.
-
ex: I might have 4-5 playlist/crates created for a set based on the feeling where I separate them. Having the ability to access them on the fly, rather than scrolling through my playlists, can be extremely helpful when shifting gears in a DJ Set.
Hi @Greilark, thanks for the suggestion. However, please use search before creating new topics. I have merged your new topic with this existing one. You can upvote this topic at the top left of this page. Thanks!
I looked through the articles, but in my search, I did not see this one come up. Will try again in the future. It seems this has been an ongoing Feature Request with no response from Algoriddim. What are the odds of this happening for DJay Pro?
No problem @Greilark. I share all suggestions with our dev team and monitor all topics in this community. For more on how suggestions and voting works, please see the topic below:
Now that we can pin Spotify playlists in v5.6.3, it only makes sense to add pinning for native djay playlists as well!
In fact, we now have Playlist Search and Playlist Favorites within the Spotify integration, so we are only one step away from introducing the same functionality for native playlists as well, am I right? It would be so incredibly helpful for our workflow. Looks like a total no-brainer!
Thanks for sharing @DJ_Big_Blender. I’ve moved your comment to this existing discussion so it doesn’t get lost and missed in the general release notes topic.
@DJ_Big_Blender: Yes indeed, you are right, now that we can pin Spotify playlists in v5.6.3, it only makes sense to add pinning for native djay playlists as well!
I’m an all-round DJ as well and was a long time (15 years) Traktor user until i switched to rekordbox some years ago.
Rekordbox has a ‘Playlist Palette’ (see video under) but that isn’t as great and usefull as Traktor’s ‘Playlist Favorites’ since Rekordbox’s Playlist palette has only 4 slots with limitations (Folders and streaming services playlists not allowed) visible at the same time where Traktor has 12 without any limitations.
Would be great to see some kind of Traktor-like Playlist Favorites Bank in Djay.
Thanks for the additional input @djbo
…
In Traktor I have the ability to SCROLL THROUGH the Favorite Tab with a specific button on the controller, for example, Shift + Knob Turn on the browser knob - would swith between on the Favorites.
Yes, that’s a great function I know from my Traktor S4 MK3.
When Djay gives us a “playlist Favorites Bank” inspired by NI Traktor’s way we might maybe be able to map that to unites like the DJ TechTools MIDI Fighter Twister BK controller and the new Xone:K3 which I both own. ![]()
