YOUR QUESTION:
I’m a wedding DJ and I use one computer to manage the events I’m doing, and I use a different laptop to perform. I need to know the most efficient way to get all of my playlists, song analyzations, cue points, etc. to the laptop. I’m coming from Serato and this was really easy. I keep my music on an external SSD. Serato puts the database with all the above info on the drive where the music is being stored. In this case it’s my SSD. Since the database is on the SSD, all I have to do is plug into another computer, and all my playlists etc. are there.
What is the most efficient way to accomplish this with DJay Pro? I know there is a local database that can be transferred, but from what I understand that doesn’t include the song analyzation data. I really want to convert to DJay 100%, but I need an easy way to do it.
The most convenient way is to store music on an SSD. Then manually copy the DJay database folder from the laptop for pre-performance to the laptop for performance to sync playlists, cues and analysis. Of course this is not automatic like in Serato, but it is a closer workflow.
Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
Hi @Slak_Jaw. I would prefer to not use One Library as it also doesn’t meet my needs. I don’t want to format my drives in exFat, FAT32, or HFS+. I use SSDs, and APFS is much better suited to handle them. I don’t understand why everything, except song analysis data, is in one folder. This is the major pain point. If everything was in the DJay folder, then I could simply just move one folder. Clearly it’s doable, because other programs can do it.
I would love to be able to do my work on one computer, and continue on another by just moving my external SSD. I don’t want to export my library using one library, or move 2 folders. Just plug and play. That is the only thing stopping me from fully converting. DJay is leaps and bounds better than Serato except for this one thing lol.
I still have to dig into the Library on my Mac for song analysis data. Is there any future plan to combine track analysis data into the database? This still doesn’t completely solve the issue, but it sure would make it easier.
