Your question:

strong text i’m desperately seeking help with my IDJPro.
I’m using an iPad third generation with djay Pro 4.10. I have purchased several 30-pin to lightning adaptors all with the same results. After connecting my iPad, and turning on my controller, my device is being charged, However, no audio it’s coming through my controller.
Is there something that I haven’t taken in consideration? I need help!!!

Hi @John_Colbert, please note that the iDJ Pro is no longer natively supported for djay on iOS. However, I can try to offer some suggestions:

  1. First, I recommend that you only use a genuine Apple lightning to 30 pin adapter as many 3rd party adapters simply don’t work properly.
  2. Disconnect all cables and adapters from your iPad, close djay and all other applications on your iPad.
  3. Perform a Forced Restart of your iPad (Force restart iPad - Apple Support)
  4. After restarting, launch djay and connect your iPad to the iDJ Pro using a Genuine Apple adapter.
  5. If you’re still having issues, please navigate to Settings>Audio Devices and share a screenshot of this page.
  6. Please also share a screenshot of Settings>MIDI Devices.

Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion, but here’s another question. When shopping for this item, I’ve came across several products that said, ā€œno audio.ā€ What exactly does that mean?

You’re welcome @John_Colbert. I’m not an Apple hardware expert, nor do I know much about these 30 pin to lightning adapters, but as the name would suggest, it seems those adapters do not send audio signals. Likely only for charging and maybe some other data transmission. I recommend that you reach out to Apple support for more on this.

Hi again @John_Colbert, sorry, I just remembered a previous discussion about this hardware and found it via a quick search. I have merged your topic with this one. Please review all of the information above. It sounds like you probably won’t be able to get this hardware working with the newer generation iPads.

I dare say that your iPad may be a bit old for Djay Pro,
I have tried the IPad 9th gen and 7th gen and it works fine, with it working better/faster with the 9th Gen though.
I have a 5th Gen iPad Air now but haven’t had a chance to try that yet with the Numark…
But the important part was to use the genuine Apple 30 pin to Lightning adapter.
Now that I think about it I don’t think I can use the iPad Air as it has a
USB C port, maybe via a Hub?

Your question/suggestion/feedback:
Hello mates. I have a Numark iDj Pro and I want to use it as a back up unit. My official unit is Reloop Mixon 8 Pro. Also I have an IPad Pro 12,9 5Gen and the latest version of Djay. I have the adapter from 30pin to lightning. If I buy the Apple adapter from lightning to USB-C will my iPad work with the Numark iDj pro? Thanks.

Hi @RasBilly, please use the Search tool before creating new topics. I’ve merged your new one with this existing one. Please note that this hardware is not supported on newer generation iPads. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response. I have also the older version of djay. The djay2 app on my iPad. Is it compatible?

You’re welcome @RasBilly. The older app should work, but I don’t think your newer iPad will be compatible with the hardware.

Out of curiosity, what DJ app were you running? I have the IDJ pro controller And I believe I’m running a iPad third generation on it. It’s been collecting those for the last four years and when I first booted it on all of the software is outdated I’m unable to use Spotify. I learned that they don’t support it anymore, which isn’t a problem. So I ended up buying Apple Music and then they said I couldn’t play it because it wasn’t downloaded from iCloud so I downloaded it from iCloud. After that, it told me the music was DRM protected. So I’m just assuming the iPad is way too outdated for it. I plan on picking up a six gen iPad sometime this week Along with an adapter. But I’d like you to confirm that it will work and what version of the app will work because I bought multiple of them back in the day. Thank you

I still have the original Djay2 software and it works with that, Although obviously it is no longer supported or being updated and doesn’t have any of the bells and whistles that Djay Pro has.

I did test it with my iPad 7th gen and 9th gen with Djay Pro and everything worked including Neural Mix,

The Numark iDj Pro was my first controller and my first introduction into the digital Dj world having come from Vinyl (I skipped the CD era)

I enjoyed using it and although I still have it, I haven’t used it in a couple of years now…

Hey, quick question I was wondering if I was able to use the iPad Air two on my nuMark ID DJ pro controller

Yes it shouldn’t be a problem,
I’m pretty sure I was using an iPad Air 2 with my iDj Controller… just make sure you have the 30pin to lightning adapter cable

Any recommendations because I picked one up from Amazon and I’m not sure if it was faulty or it just simply did not work. Thank you

Make sure you purchase genuine Apple adapters and not generic 3rd party ones. Sometimes these will work, but in my experience, most are cheaply built and either don’t last or are DOA.

Original Apple adapter is the only way.
