Pioneer CDJ 3000 Decks and DJM-S11 not working on iOS

Hi Guys!

While everything work smoothly with Mac OS, using iOS with the correct configuration (as suggested) the two decks are not working.

Any idea/suggestion?

Thank you!

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max (latest iOS)
  • djay v. 5.2.7
  • Pioneer DJM-S11
  • Pioneer CDJ-3000

Your question/suggestion/feedback:

Hi @JP369, please note that the CDJ 3000s are not supported on iOS.

WOW!! :open_mouth:

Ok, thanks so much for your answer.

You’re welcome @JP369. Please note that for hardware to work with iOS devices, it needs to be USB Class Compliant. This basically means it needs to function without the installation of drivers because iOS does not support driver installation. This needs to be addressed on the hardware manufacturers side of things and is beyond our control to support. I hope that helps!

Slak_Jaw I completely understand. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah sorry about that @JP369, I meant that the CDJ3000s are not supported on iOS. Yes, the DJM-S11 is supported on both macOS and iOS, but NOT the waveform display on either OS. I can see how that note is a bit confusing. It means that you need to install the latest DJM-S11 firmware for the mixer to work on iOS. This has nothing to do with screen support. The screen is NOT supported on either macOS or iOS. Please note that the hardware manufacturer needs to unlock access to their screens before we can add support for them in djay. We have reached out to the manufacturer requesting this, but it will help to expedite the process if djay users like yourself also contact the manufacturer and express their interest in having screens unlocked for Algoriddim djay.

How exactly are you connecting the DJM-S11 to your iPhone? Are you using your original Apple USB cable? Are you using a USB hub or any adapters? Please share some photos if possible. Thanks!

Per the DJM-S11 User Manual, please make sure you connect directly to one of the two Computer USB A or B sockets on the back and do not use a USB hub.

Also, make sure you set the input dial on the top of the S11 to the corresponding USB A or B socket that you connected to on the back.

But the CDJ 3000 also offers an HID mode. It should be easier to implement something like this in iOS.

Thank you, now all make sense to me…
I will definitely contact Pioneer and express their interest in having screens unlocked for Algoriddim djay. The more, the merrier.

You’re welcome @JP369. Thank you!

Those two images reflect my configuration (except for tar deck connection, I use the CDJ/CONTROLLER USB ports instead of the Line/RCA as indicated in the picture).
Anyway, those screenshots are about a laptop configuration, we are talking about iOS configuration here.
Again, it works perfectly with Mac OS but not in iOS.

Thank you!

Hi @JP369, I shared that second screenshot to ensure that you have the USB A/B dial on the top of the unit set to the corresponding USB port on the back of your unit. Can you please confirm that is in fact the case?

Slak_Jaw Thank you so much!! :+1:

You’re welcome @JP369. So did adjusting that USB A/B dial solve your connection issue? If not, can you please answer my earlier questions so I can help you troubleshoot this further?

Slak_Jaw No, I can not use the software with iOS. I can see and correctly configure the mixer, but the two decks are not recognized/working…

So the DJM-S11 is connecting and recognized by djay when using iOS? The CDJs will not connect or be as noted above.

If the mixer is not working on iOS please answer the following from earlier:

How exactly are you connecting the DJM-S11 to your iPhone? Are you using your original Apple USB cable? Are you using a USB hub or any adapters? Please share some photos if possible.

The mixer seems to be working correctly, but I can only tell you by what I see, since I can not hear any sound coming out of it.
I am using the same cable that I use to connect the laptop, that is the cable that I got with the mixer. (please see attachment). No USB Hub involved in my configuration.
Thank you!

Hi @JP369, I think that white USB-C adapter in your picture could be the issue. I’ve had many issues with these adapters in the past - especially with iOS devices. I highly recommend that you eliminate that adapter and use a high quality USB-C to B cable like the ones made DJ TechTools instead.

Thank you Slak_Jaw!!
I’m gonna by the one that you suggested and I’ll get back to you.

Thanks!

You’re welcome @JP369. Looking forward to hearing back.
