Pioneer DDJ REV5 jog wheels not accurate

Are you using the (built-in) MIDI mapping or a custom edit?

Built-in… I checked it twice

Hmmm… guess it’s not fixed then. I don’t have a REV5 to check for myself. I’ll let the team know though. Thanks @DJTonyBlanck

Hi there,

did you try to change the rotary type?

I have had drift with the LC6000 and changing to a different rotary type and adjusting the speed to 100% solved the issue

Hi @jorgegalve, thx for your input, I will try it.

1.1% is closer for me. Try that and see what you thInk.

Hi there,

I tried other rotary type (it was worse) and speed slider at 1.1% (still not accurate enough).

So i decided myself to go deep into the midi file and changed the value to 1.115% as recommended by hardware team and it’s way better indeed.

Allow me to recommend 120% as reaction slider value

Let me know if it suits you too…

Tony.

Oh can you show me how to change midi file? That would help a lot. Great you figured it out.

Enjoy!

Just check reaction slider value, and adjust it to your feeling.

Thanks for sharing @DJTonyBlanck

Thanks for this. Ive mapped my rev 5 how i want it. How do i only chsnge the midi file according to the specification Reqiirdd?

Ok got it
So, you have to export midi file in the midi menu and then open it in a text editor.
Search the related section using “scratch” (or “1.1” if you are using still this value) and change the speed value for 1.115.
Save it and open it with djay.

Hi @DJTonyBlanck and @Dysfunk_DJ, okay, so it looks like this didn’t make it into 5.3.1, but I’ve been told it will be included in the next update, 5.3.2. Sorry for the confusion there!

Cheers for update @Slak_Jaw

Amazing what coding can do. I remember Joe Easton coding the traktor s4 mk3, adding moving wave forms to the screens when they werent any. Come on Algoriddim coders you can achieve much more. Sorry back to Rev 5 thread :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thanks for your mapping. I’d like to share mine also which I will on the rev 5 hardware page also. This mapping is something that I have taken a lot of time to put together. You may like some bits and not so much others.

Shift plus push browser knob previews a track
Shift plus right slip forwards through preview track
Shift plus left slip goes back through preview track
Select plus vocal = Crossfader fx select vocal cut
Select plus melody = Crossfader fx neural mix fade
Select plus bass = Crossfader fx neural mix echo out
Select plus drums = Crossfader fx drum cut
Shift plus tap = toggle Crossfader fx
Shift plus auto bpm = toggle tempo blend
Shift plus fx1 1 = acapella fx routing
Shift plus fx 1 2 =2 harmonic/bass routing
Shift plus fx 1 3 =3 drums fx routing
Same for fx 2 also

Parameter buttons are mapped to left parameter acapella and right parameter instrumental
Shift plus left parameter is mapped to the
New instant fx 1 and shift right parameter to the new instant fx 2

Shift plus deck 3 is decrease wave form factor
Shift plus deck 4 is increase wave form factor

Pad pitch play is now beat jump 16 beats forwards and backwards down to 1 beat forwards and backwards with green pads indicating forwards and reds backwards. I use this a lot to prepare tracks and quickly make adjustments.

Piano play is instant fx

I’ve mapped stems to solo top pads with instant fx bottom pads

Scratch bank is mapped to slicer

As with original map but if you don’t know holding down stems button and pressing vocals, melody bass or drums will do the stem split to another deck, very cool indeed.

Pressing the play button next to select will do the auto transition and shift plus select will change the bar 1,2,4 or 8 (just in case you weren’t aware)

Shift plus the play button next to select will perform an instant double.

I think this is all. I mapped across all 4 decks as well as the rev 5 does offer 4 deck functionality. In case you wanna split stem a vocal on deck 4 or something.

Use what you like and leave the rest. Enjoy

WOW! amazing job, thx !
It. gave me some ideas to go further with mine.
Thank you @Dysfunk_DJ

You’re welcome @DJTonyBlanck
I actually think the Rev 5 is the best iOS controller for djay pro right now in terms of how it’s layed out and can be mapped. I wasn’t to sure about the battle layout at first but I love it. I don’t use 4 decks that much, maybe for scratching a vocal on deck 3 or 4 maybe. Thanks for your heads up on the scratch speed midi file editing. Really useful.
