Hi @CorradJ, thanks for continuing to push this topic. Our teams all still working on this, however, as explained above this is a complex issue. In the meantime, please try turning Keylock Off to see if that helps. Thanks again!
Thanks I donāt need help without Keylock, I need the problem solved ⦠Iām the only one in my area who works in clubs with your software and I describe to others its qualities especially for me the management of the library and search for tracks. Donāt make me give up on Rekordbox that I started to use against my will. Greetings friend
- Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen): 2023 MacBook Air with 8 GB memory
- Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): MacOS 15.3
- Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): 5.2.6
- Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): Pioneer DDJ FLX4
Your question:
When I adjust the tempo of a playing song, I sometimes hear slight (very short) blips/glitches in the audio (Iām using an external audio recorder and I hear it in the output). I donāt believe it happens every time, but it happens very frequently. It occurs right at the beginning of the tempo adjustment within a song, then doesnāt seem to occur again after that in the same song. I havenāt tested changing the tempo in the software directly to determine whether the issue is specific to using the controller. Could it be due to only having 8 GB of memory or maybe an issue with the controller? Are there any settings I could adjust to help fix this?
Thank you for your help.
Hi @Joshf82, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. Can you please confirm if you only notice this when moving the pitch fader through the center/zero position? Thanks.
I can confirm this occasionally happens to me with my Denon Prime Go connected to the iPad Air 5th Gen but only when moving off the middle/0 position on the pitch slider.
I always keep key Lock on so not sure if this is a contributing factor
Hi @maurizio_T, thanks for the info. Yes, itās related to keylock. If you temporarily disable keylock when moving through the center position that should remove the glitch.
Hello! Itās been a week since my last reply. Iām going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
Sorry for my slow reply. Yes, it only seems to occur when the tempo slider is moved from the center position while playing a track. I adjusted to it by changing the tempo of the incoming song instead of the playing song.
Thanks for the follow up @Joshf82. This is a known limitation/issue. I have merged your new topic with this existing one. Our team is still working on this. In the meantime, as a workaround, I recommend that you temporarily disable Key Lock when moving through the center/zero position with your tempo faders. I hope that helps!
Unfortunately itās a bad bug ⦠for me who also works with songs played by hand and I mix correcting the tempo obviously without sync you can hear it. To hear it well you have to try moving the cursor close to zero with musical songs that have sounds and melodies, if there is only drum and percussion it is barely audible. Itās not the controls or vaudio cards it does it even just software on all the platforms Iāve tried.
M1 Air
MacOS 5.3.1
Djay 5.2.9
Rane One
Iām having a deeply frustrating time trying to record a mix with a heavy use of sync.
- If I press play on my non-playing deck, for which the crossfader is fully closed, thereās a 50% chance the playing track will stutter, pop, etc.
- If I have two tracks playing in sync, then increase the speed of the master sync track above 0% via the pitch fader, there is again a 50% chance of hearing what sounds like artifacts.
- When Iām messing around on the non-playing deck (again crossfader closed), such as pressing and holding hot cues, this can also seem to affect the playing track.
I donāt know exactly what is going on, like if itās just the result of the tracks getting abruptly synced together, performance issues (my guess, especially because I know key lock is problematic), or something to do with the moving platters. In any case, I canāt get through recording a 30 minute mix without it being ruined by at least one or two instances of this.
I will try to get some more concrete examples, but honestly Iām just hoping that other users have also experienced this and can chime in.
Hi @Fangio, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue. Sorry to hear youāre experiencing this issue. This sounds very unusual To help explain whatās going on can you please try to capture a short video of the issue, upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the video here? Thanks!
I also have problems with Tampo Blend when the option to save the track key is enabled.
As soon as you start the crossfade 0.0% > 0.3% > 0.6% you can hear the sound distortion Maybe for a moment the drum hit becomes deaf or double.
If you switch off the option to save the track key, the crossfade works fine.
Alright, here we go⦠Please listen with good headphones.
Loops 1-2: Turning key lock on/off
Key Lock ON
3-4: Holding and releasing cue-point on non-active deck
5-6: Two tracks synced, changing and then resetting pitch fader
Key Lock OFF
7-8: Two tracks synced, changing and resetting pitch fader
9-10: Holding and releasing cue-point on non-active deck
Observation: horrible pops with key lock engaged, no issues at all with it disengaged.
I am slightly impressed, but mostly disappointed, to see that I seem to be correct about the key lock once again. I am shocked that more users havenāt chimed in about the key lock over the last half a year that Iāve been bringing it up. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but for me, it severely impacts many parts of this application.
The problem exists and I hope that it can be solved soon.
Thanks for the video and additional info @Fangio. I have merged your topic with this existing one, as Iām pretty sure these are the same issue. This, unfortunately, is a known issue that the team is working on. As youāve discovered, the current work around is to disable Keylock when moving through the center/zero position on the tempo faders. Iāll let you know when I have more news from the team on this issue though. Thanks!
I just want to confirm for you and the team that your workaround is not really applicable, as I have demonstrated that the popping occurs in scenarios other than adjusting the pitch fader. In fact, there are even more scenarios than those covered in the video, so many that I canāt track them all. All I know is that I will 100% not be able to record my mix until this issue is resolved. Thanks for the merge, and I very much look forward to hearing updates on the keylock issues across djay soon.
Thanks for the additional clarifications @Fangio. This is very helpful and I will share this with the team as well.
Hello everyone, please update to the recently released 5.3 and let me know if this improves things for you. Thanks!
For the full 5.3 release notes, please refer to the topic below. Thanks!
Hi, the problem remains. Just load a track with a synt without rhythm and feel the noises by moving the pitch around zero.
