Pre Cue Headphones doesn’t work on Android 10 USB-C with djay 3.0.4 and Reloop Mixtour

Hi @juanchax, welcome to the Community! I don’t have access to the Samsung Tab S8 to confirm, but this could simply be a compatibility issue with that specific device. Please see below for more info.

Having said that, here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

  1. Make sure you are running the latest Android OS and latest version of djay.
  2. Download and install the latest DDJ-400 firmware from Pioneer DJ.
  3. Verify Android Audio Settings:
    a. Ensure USB Audio Routing is enabled:
    b. Go to Settings > Developer Options > USB Audio Routing and turn it ON.
  4. Disconnect all cables and reboot your device.
  5. Connect the DDJ-400 to your tablet using a Powered USB hub so it’s not running off USB Bus power and the internal tablet battery. Once connected, ensure that your tablet is charging properly as well.
  6. Launch djay and go to Settings>Audio Devices and ensure the DDJ-400 is selected as the main audio device. Make sure Main Output is routed to the DDJ-400 ch1-2 and Pre-Cueing is routed to the DDJ-400 ch3-4.
  7. If this doesn’t help, I recommend trying a different USB cable and/or a different USB Hub.

Hi @Slak_Jaw, thanks for your reply. Find my answers inline below.

  1. Make sure you are running the latest Android OS and latest version of djay. –
[CONFIRMED] Android is up-to-date (Samsung is always pushing updates), and I downloaded Djay 2 days before purchasing the subscription, so it’s up-to-date as well (unless it’s not up-to-date in Google Play).

  2. Download and install the latest DDJ-400 firmware from Pioneer DJ.
    [CONFIRMED] Running v1.03 (released 09/Mar/2021)

  3. Verify Android Audio Settings:
    a. Ensure USB Audio Routing is enabled: Go to Settings > Developer Options > USB Audio Routing and turn it ON.
[CONFIRMED] The Android Dev Options setting is “Disable USB Audio Routing” on Android 14, but no worries, I made sure that the disable toggle is OFF (as in, Android will automatically route audio output thru USB whenever USB audio is available)

  4. Disconnect all cables and reboot your device. [DONE]

  5. Connect the DDJ-400 to your tablet using a Powered USB hub so it’s not running off USB Bus power and the internal tablet battery. Once connected, ensure that your tablet is charging properly as well. [DONE]

  6. Launch djay and go to Settings>Audio Devices and ensure the DDJ-400 is selected as the main audio device. Make sure Main Output is routed to the DDJ-400 ch1-2 and Pre-Cueing is routed to the DDJ-400 ch3-4.
[NEEDS REVIEW] There’s no Settings → Audio Devices configuration option in Djay Pro Android (screenshot attached). Please check your info and confirm.

  7. If this doesn’t help, I recommend trying a different USB cable and/or a different USB Hub. [CONFIRMED] Using brand new USB cable adapter (w/charging port) to power both units + usb connection

oh how I wish Djay was open source to contribute

Hi @juanchax, thanks for the details. Please try downloading Algoriddim djay 5.2.6 from the app store not djay 2.

hey @Slak_Jaw, that’s a days number, as in, I downloaded the Djay app two days before purchasing a subscription to Djay Pro

I downloaded Djay 2 days before purchasing the subscription

Ah okay! Sorry I misread that. I can’t think of anything else to suggest at this point, but I’ve passed this onto our engineering team to see if they have any recommendations. I’ll report back when I hear back.

hey @Slak_Jaw , thanks for taking the time to look into this.

I took the liberty of running a few tests to help identify possible root causes and filed a support request, sharing all the details. :v:t4:

You’re welcome @juanchax. Thanks for the update!
